Xpressbees (formally BusyBees Logistics Solutions Pvt. Ltd.) is an Indian logistics and supply chain company headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra. It was established in 2015 as a spin-off from FirstCry, an e-commerce platform co-founded by Amitava Saha and Supam Maheshwari. The company's operations include parcel delivery, reverse logistics, warehousing, and cross-border shipping.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

Xpressbees was initially created as the logistics arm of FirstCry, an online retailer of baby products. In 2015, it was incorporated as a separate entity.[4] Early funding was received from investors such as SAIF Partners (now Elevation Capital), IDG Ventures, and Vertex Ventures.[5] In 2017, Alibaba Group invested approximately $35 million in the company.[6][7] By 2020, Xpressbees had expanded its operations to include third-party warehousing and heavy cargo services.[8]

In November 2020, the company received ₹800 crore (approximately $110 million) from a consortium that included Investcorp, Norwest Venture Partners, and Gaja Capital.[9] [7] In February 2022, it raised $300 million in a Series F funding round led by Blackstone Growth, TPG Growth, and ChrysCapital.[10] Following this round, the company's valuation was reported to exceed $1 billion.[11]

Later funding included $40 million from Khazanah Nasional Berhad in 2023[12] and $80 million from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in November 2023.[12][13][14]

Partnerships and acquisitions

[edit]

In February 2021, Xpressbees acquired NimbusPost, a shipping aggregation service provider.[15] In June 2021, the company partnered with Unicommerce, a supply chain software platform. In July 2021, it entered into a strategic partnership with SpiceXpress,[16] the cargo division of SpiceJet, to facilitate air freight logistics across select Indian cities.[17]

In August 2023, Xpressbees acquired Trackon Courier, a courier company based in New Delhi, through an all-cash transaction.[18]

The company is also a logistics partner on the Government of India's Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).[19]

Operations

[edit]

As of March 2025, Xpressbees operated approximately 4,500 service centres and 250 hubs,[20][21] with more than 28,000 delivery partners involved in field operations.[3]
