This course offers an examination of policy making about problems affecting the environment, at a global, national, and local scale. Environmental issues loom large in today’s politics. What kinds of environmental problems do we face? How do we, as a society, address them? In this course, we will look at the key political issues around the environment. We will build a framework to help understand and analyze the critical components of environmental politics. You will learn to identify and evaluate the political actors, choices, and institutions that structure environmental politics and policy, and you will gain the tools to evaluate environmental problems and ideal vs. politically feasible solutions.
For Wikipedia, students will largely focus on adding to existing articles. Students will add additional information to articles that are already clearly about environmental political institutions or policies, and/or they will add political/policy information to articles that are about environmental issues that do not yet have sections related to the political causes/consequences of the environmental issues.
