Students examine the politics of race, and social justice. Study each topic from an interdisciplinary perspective, centering the historical, sociological and political exploration of race. Contributions to Wikipedia will focus on individual work, while providing a foundation for a collaborative assignment, “Social Impact Group Project: Race, Social Justice, and Digital Citizenship“. Students participate in a group project simulating a culturally inclusive social justice organization working collaboratively to create a resource guide. The goal is to provide the knowledge, resources, and content necessary to inform the community about social justice issues within specific areas of expertise (selected topics). Students will conduct the research necessary to understand and inform others about pertinent concepts, policies, laws, organizations, and leaders that inform knowledge projects on their topic.
