This writing-intensive course introduces students to analysis and interpretation of representative texts within the field of Latinx literature, ranging from the 19th century to the present. Students are practicing both authoritative synthesis of existing knowledge (in adding ten sentences with peer-reviewed secondary sources to wikipedia entires), and they are practicing persuasive writing and original interpretation. For the wikipedia entries students may add to pages about our authors, the literary texts, film, and historical and cultural contexts that figure in texts by José Martí, Arturo A. Schomburg, Jaquira Díaz, Karla Cornejo Villavicencio, Inés Estrada, Alex Rivera and Cristina Ibarra.
