This is a course about, as the title implies, stem cell biology. I've used wikipedia assignments in this class (and several others) for the past decade or so, with variations each time I teach. In general, I've had them work in groups to identify topics and pages that need updating to reflect current knowledge about the genes and proteins that underlie stem cell biology (this knowledge changes fast and is often quickly out of date on various wikipedia pages). They do research and then propose a series of updates. My past students have loved this assignment saying it was really hard to write so little and yet have it mean so much! Although we've done this independently, this looks like a better approach to drafting out the content.
