Hello again, I am re-nominating this biography for A-Class assessment because the previous one failed due to lack of reviewer participation. I'm hopeful that this time, this will pass to A-class because it fulfills the criteria for A-class. It has already been through a thorough review, so I'm also hopeful that this bio will easily be promoted. Thank you. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:48, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Figureskatingfan Hi! It seems no one has responded yet. What do you want to do? Editor120918756 (talk) 15:24, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Attn: Henni147, Apqaria
- @Editor120918756, to be honest, I dunno. The last resort, at least for me, is to ping the project regulars, which I will do below, but if there continues to be no response or assistance, I'm thinking about scrapping this nomination entirely. I'm also seriously considering dropping my support for the A-class assessment project, since it's not something I can or even want to do on my own. I have enough of that IRL, thank you very much. The only thing that would stop me is if we nominated another article, not something that so many have worked on, since that was seemed to prevent reviewers from stepping up in Kim's first nom. Perhaps an article like Surya Bonaly, which I just finished improving. We'll see what happens next before I decide. Hey, I have an idea: Ed, would you consider reviewing this?
- To that end, pinging Henni147, Apqaria, CammiBel, Rainbowed-Sunned-Spirit, Gia Sesshoumaru, Banana12938, Clemkr, CaptainCanada, FloweringDagwood, Jasper_Deng. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 05:12, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Figureskatingfan Am I allowed to review? I did work on it quite a bit, initially. If I can, I will. Editor120918756 (talk) 11:21, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Technically, no. But I think that if we agree that it's okay, then you can, especially if it's been a while since you contributed to it. It has been changed substantially since I got a hold it it, doncha know. Let's wait and see what kind of response we get, then if necessary, we'll revisit this issue. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 00:16, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Figureskatingfan tag artemisia too then, that's three of us as needed! Editor120918756 (talk) 14:06, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

- The most likely time for me to do this would be during the upcoming worlds. My schedule is too slammed before that.--Jasper Deng (talk) 23:15, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Jasper Deng, that would be awesome. Unless someone else steps up, your input would be worth the wait. Are you going to Worlds? If so, I'm so jealous; I was trying to get there myself, but my situation wouldn't allow for it. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:36, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Jasper Deng, here we are over a month past Worlds and still no assessment! Pinging to remind you of your promise. Please! ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 16:29, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Comments by Artemisialufkin
[edit]I'm happy to start this review off! Disclaimer that I have edited the article before, but there is consensus among editors that it has changed significantly since then.
- The infobox says that her degree is a BA but there's no source provided. Her height, awards and highest world standing are also missing sources.
- I added a source about Kim's education and removed her height, since different sources record different numbers, but I didn't add a source for her best WS and awards because it's my understanding that it's not necessary to include standings in infoboxes. See Yuzuru Hanyu's infobox, or example.
- According to the sources, Kim's degree is in Physical Education. My understanding is that this can be a BA or BSc. If there's no source to support it being a BA specifically, I think that part should be removed. Kim's best world standing is currently included in the infobox in the figure skating career section, so I think there should either be a source provided or it should be removed. Yuzuru Hanyu's infobox does have that section sourced. The Peony Medal and Talent Medal also need to be sourced as they're not mentioned elsewhere in the article. Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I removed the BA but not her alma mater because the source does support that. I removed the best world standing and the awards because there are no sources to support them. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

- "She was not old enough to compete at the 2006 Olympics; instead, she participated in the Olympic torch relay and participated in the 2005–06 Junior Grand Prix" → "She was not old enough to compete at the 2006 Olympics; instead, she participated in the Olympic torch relay and the 2005–06 Junior Grand Prix".
- "Kim captivated the audience and won the free skate, with 116.68 points and an overall score of 177.54 points overall." → "Kim captivated the audience and won the free skate with 116.68 points, earning 177.54 points overall."
- "according to figure skater reporter Lynn Rutherford" I would change this to "figure skating reporter" as I think it otherwise implies that Rutherford is a skater herself.
- "Tickets to the NRW Trophy sold out in six hours and instead of the few media outlets that would usually attended this event, over fifty credentials, which included several news outlets, were issued." → "Tickets to the NRW Trophy sold out in six hours and instead of the few media outlets that would usually attend this event, over fifty credentials, which included several news outlets, were issued."
- Ice Network has been spelled both with and without a space. You should use the same spelling throughout the article.
- You should link Yonhap News Agency in the 2012–2013 season section.
- You should italicise Golden Skate in the skating technique section.
- "Kim was highly praised for her skating and presentation skills." Seven references is a bit excessive. I think three would be enough.
- Addressed the above comments.
- There's no source for Kim's "All of Me" program.
- B, would you mind removing the entries for "All of Me" in the tables? I am the worst at tables and I can't figure out how it make it look right. Thanks, I'd appreciate that. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 04:33, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- "Programs performed at three or more ice shows within the same year are only listed with selected shows." I don't think this note is needed as it doesn't seem that she did perform any programs at three or more shows.
- Removed. Should we remove the other note as well? Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 04:49, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't have strong feelings about that one so I'll leave that up to you! Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Yah, I don't think it's necessary, so it's gone. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

- Dailian (used in ref 115) is considered unreliable per WP:KO/RS; find another source if you can.
- Removed content supported by this source, since it didn't really add anything, anyway.
- There are some inconsistencies in the formatting of the references. For example:
- There are a number of sources that are sometimes attributed as the publisher and sometimes as the work/website. I've noticed this with Ice Network, Korea JoongAng Daily, the ISU, Golden Skate and The Chosun Ilbo, but there may be others.
- Works/publishers are sometimes linked and sometimes not. I think you should decide on a system and stick to it.
- Refs 23, 107, 186 and 187 have a location included but none of the other references do.
- Ref 120 isn't archived.
- I went through the references and made them, I think, all consistent. I might have missed a few, so please let me know if I caught everything. I felt that I needed to change the original formatting to inline citations because that's become the convention throughout Wikipedia and the errors were made by toggling between Visual Editor and source editing. It seemed like I ran up against all the VE bugs; for example, VE doesn't always recognize when a source should be classified as news, so when you try and use the automatic function when creating references, it will use the web template instead of the news template. It shows how important it is, especially when improving existing articles, to go into source editing and correct for the errors and bugs in every reference. To be honest, I was hoping that no one would notice the inconsistencies in the source editing, but you being you, they were caught, darn it! ;) No, I'm kidding, it was for the best, of course, and I appreciate it, I suppose. Again, kidding! ;)
- I'm still seeing inconsistencies with the International Skating Union references. Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I corrected the ones that were the ISU's news sites, which are works (i.e., ref 47), but not the scoring records on their website (i.e., all the refs in tables). Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm still seeing inconsistencies with the International Skating Union references. Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I corrected for the overlinking that was already present in the sources.
- You've caught most of them but there are still links in refs 13, 71, 113, 149, 172, 177, 180 and 184. There are also some square brackets around The Chosun Ilbo in ref 99, which I think you probably meant to remove. Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Got em all. Wow, you're so perceptive. I am keeping you around, my friend! ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- The reference numbering is off now, but I think what you're talking about is the convention I follow of including locations if they're unclear from the source's name. For example, the current ref 32, Greensboro News and Record includes the location (Greensboro, North Carolina) because its location isn't clear from just the publication's title. When it was clear (NYT, for example), I didn't include the location.
- I'm fine with that, but what I find a bit confusing is references coming from the same source sometimes include the location and sometimes don't. For example, refs 24 and 185 are both from Skating Scores, but ref 185 has a location and ref 24 doesn't. Similarly, ref 186 also has a location, whereas the other ISU references don't. Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- No, I get that. Sometimes the ISU refs don't name a location on their source, so in those cases, I didn't try and make something up. And I realize that a location may be obvious to you, but not to me. To be honest, I think that's getting too much in the weeds and most readers won't care, anyway. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Another weird thing that happened was the appearance, in almost every ref, of the error message "#invoke:". Not being a coder, I'm not sure what it means or does, even when I tried to look it up, but my suspicion is that it was a correction for the double pipes after the template parameter; for example, "<ref>cite news||..." I went through and corrected every single instance of it, thank you very much. Dude, how lucky you are that I'm obsessed with that kind of thing! ;)
- Yeah, I think that was added by an editor a while back because there were too many templates in the article and it was causing the navboxes to not display properly. A lot of the navboxes have been removed since then though so it doesn't seem to be needed anymore. Artemisia (talk) 16:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- That makes sense. Thanks again. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That's all I have for now! Artemisia (talk) 17:23, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks so much. Looking forward to more comments, I think, haha. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 23:25, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I think that's it for comments! In my opinion, the article meets the A-class criteria. You just need to sort out that unsourced program and I'll give it a support. Artemisia (talk) 22:45, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Artemisialufkin, thanks! Pinging User:Bgsu98, which I should have done before, would you mind fixing the above mentioned tables for me? Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 21:09, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I feel like a dumb-dumb, but I’m not seeing which tables you need edited. Of course you know I’m happy to help once I know which ones need my attention. 😂😂😂 Bgsu98 (Talk) 21:15, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Bgsu98, Oh shut up, that's just not true! ;) Tables are at Programs as a professional skater and Programs as a competitive skater. Please remove the entries for "All of Me", we couldn't find sources for them. Thanks, I appreciate it. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 22:38, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Figureskatingfan, that was an easy edit. Next time give me something more challenging. 😉 Bgsu98 (Talk) 13:18, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Now who's the dumb-dumb! I've always said that tables are my Kryptonite here. Uh, thanks anyway, I think. ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:20, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- "All of Me" still appears in Programs as a professional skater. But now that I'm looking at it again, it seems that none of the exhibition programs in Programs as a competitive skater are sourced. Artemisia (talk) 14:55, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes I see that now, too. The easiest solution is to simply remove the exhibition program column. I'll wait for direction from my reviewers, though. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 23:33, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support from Bgsu98
[edit]I have followed the evolution of this article and have assisted with the maintenance of its templates, though my involvement in the prose editing has been minimal (if any at all). Based on the numerous reviews which it has undergone, I support this article for A-class status. Bgsu98 (Talk) 23:23, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Bgsu98, thanks for your support and for the successful pass of this bio to A-class. Finally, whoo-hoo! Hopefully the next one will go smoother. If no one objects, I'll go ahead and close out both nominations and pass it to A-class. If someone does oppose, they need to do both tasks themselves, which I can assist.
