Content assessments are used within the project itself as a quality and importance scale that aid in identifying vital content, while recognizing excellent contributions and pages in need of further work and cleanup. To add an article to the worklist, place the template below at the top of the article's Talk page.

Class parameters

[edit]

Note: Levels GA ( Good article) and FA, FM, FL (Featured content), are assessments made by the community, rather than by this WikiProjects. GAs are generally reviewed by one or two editors and FA, FM, FL by a panel. Candidates are nominated by listing them at WP:Good article nominations, WP:Featured article candidates, Wikipedia:Featured list candidates and Wikipedia:Featured pictures nominations.

An article's quality assessment is recorded using the |class= parameter in the {{WikiProject banner shell}}. Articles that have the {{WikiProject COVID-19}} banner template on their talk page will be added to the appropriate categories by quality.

The following standard grades may be used to describe the quality of mainspace articles (see Wikipedia:Content assessment for assessment criteria):

FA (for featured articles only; adds them to the FA-Class COVID-19 articles category)  FA
FL (for featured lists only; adds them to the FL-Class COVID-19 articles category)  FL
A (for articles that passed a formal peer review only; adds them to the A-Class COVID-19 articles category)  A
GA (for good articles only; adds them to the GA-Class COVID-19 articles category)  GA
B (for articles that satisfy all of the B-Class criteria; adds them to the B-Class COVID-19 articles category) B
C (for substantial articles; adds them to the C-Class COVID-19 articles category) C
Start (for developing articles; adds them to the Start-Class COVID-19 articles category) Start
Stub (for basic articles; adds them to the Stub-Class COVID-19 articles category) Stub
List (for stand-alone lists; adds them to the List-Class COVID-19 articles category) List
NA (for any other pages where assessment is unwarranted; adds them to the NA-Class COVID-19 pages category) NA
??? (articles for which a valid class has not yet been provided are listed in the Unassessed COVID-19 articles category) ???

For non-mainspace content, the following values may be used:

FM (for featured media only; adds them to the FM-Class COVID-19 pages category)  FM
Category (for categories; adds them to the Category-Class COVID-19 pages category) Category
Draft (for drafts; adds them to the Draft-Class COVID-19 pages category) Draft
File (for files and timed text; adds them to the File-Class COVID-19 pages category) File
Portal (for portal pages; adds them to the Portal-Class COVID-19 pages category) Portal
Project (for project pages; adds them to the Project-Class COVID-19 pages category) Project
Template (for templates and modules; adds them to the Template-Class COVID-19 pages category) Template

The following non-standard assessment grades for mainspace content may be used at a WikiProject's discretion:

Disambig (for disambiguation pages; adds them to the Disambig-Class COVID-19 pages category) Disambig
Redirect (for redirect pages; adds them to the Redirect-Class COVID-19 pages category) Redirect

Importance parameters

[edit]

An article's importance assessment is generated from the importance parameter in the {{WikiProject COVID-19}} project banner on its talk page:

{{WikiProject COVID-19|importance =???}}

The following values may be used for the importance parameter to indicate an articles status.

COVID-19 epidemiology articles

COVID-19 location articles

COVID-19 society articles

Other parameters

[edit]

In-addition to the content assessment parameters as seen above, there are other parameters including size option and parameters to call attention to wanted and lacking items along with a biography specific category parameter.

An editor has requested that an image or photograph be added to this article.
  • listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Li Wenliang, use |listas=Wenliang, Li so that the talk page will show up in the W's and not the L's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people § Ordering names in a category.
If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.
  • small – this parameter is no longer supported and can safely be removed from the template.
  • attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • needs-image – set |needs-image=yes to request that a picture or pictures be included in the article to improve its quality.
  • needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • unref – set |unref=yes To request more references and/or adequate inline citations

  1. ^ For example, this image of the Battle of Normandy is grainy, but very few pictures of that event exist. However, where quite a number of pictures exist, for instance, the moon landing, FPC attempts to select the best of the ones produced.
  2. ^ An image has more encyclopedic value (often abbreviated to "EV" or "enc" in discussions) if it contributes strongly to a single article, rather than contributing weakly to many. Adding an image to numerous articles to gain EV is counterproductive and may antagonize both FPC reviewers and article editors.
  3. ^ While effects such as black and white, sepia, oversaturation, and abnormal angles may be visually pleasing, they often detract from the accurate depiction of the subject.
  4. ^ Prose at the Good Article level is not expected to be at a professional level like it is for Featured Articles. Minor grammatical or style issues that do not impact clarity are not prohibitive of GA status.
