Hello!

[edit]

Hello! I hope you're doing well, first of all could I ask why you merged The Essential Mariah Carey article to her 2nd compliation album Greatest Hits (Mariah Carey album)? I want to keep The Essential Mariah Carey as independent article. Camilasdandelions (talk) 10:13, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. As mentioned in the article, TEMC is simply a re-release of Greatest Hits, particularly for the initial international edition, as it shares the same tracklist as Greatest Hits. The US edition tweaks this a little with a slightly different tracklist, but is still considered a re-release of Greatest Hits. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 10:28, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Omg, I have never seen the re-released of compliation album! that's interesting :)
then how her compilations albums will be count? i mean, The Rarities, is called as 'eighth' compilations album but if TEMC is re-released of GH, then TEMC will probably be expelled from her complitaion album counting.. also I'm curious about her fourth compilation album 'Playlist: The Very Best Of Mariah Carey' and her seventh compilation, 'Japan Best'. Thanks for kind reply! Camilasdandelions (talk) 10:36, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can find the full list of compilation albums at Mariah Carey albums discography#Compilation albums. Yes, the list does include Playlist and Japan Best, and does not include TEMC. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 10:46, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As I checked, this table includes TEMC... should I delete this? Camilasdandelions (talk) 10:54, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, not sure how I missed that, I’ll delete it for you. Will also fix the albums count in The Rarities. Thank you for pointing it out! TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 15:15, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You welcome! I additionally fixed 8 -> 7 in her discography article. By the way, is it possible to call some bum as "nth" without reliable sources? I have suffered with this problem, like Deeper Well, it is said fifth by Kacey official account but actually it's sixth due to previous 5 albums. So I'm curious if there's a criteria of album counting on wikipedia! Camilasdandelions (talk) 15:51, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I assume the issue stems from Kacey's Christmas album? Like Mariah discography, the Christmas albums are also counted as studio albums, so Deeper Well is her sixth. Not sure why, but that’s the rule on the Wikipedia. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 18:35, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I think her carol album got expelled too. By the way, is that rule specified in Wikipedia documents? I want to see them, or is that rule like tacit rule? Camilasdandelions (talk) 01:28, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think unspecified rule? Because it has been applied for every artist with Christmas albums in their discography. (e.g. Kelly Clarkson) TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 10:27, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah! I agree with that also I think Latin albums (e.g. Mi Reflejo) should be regarded as studio album. But I saw some people regard christmas and latin album or like Glitter (soundtrack), can't be studio albums. I'm not sure how can I persuade them, I even used 'standard of studio album' (includes 8+ songs and over 30 mins) but they didn't agree because that standard isn't as fixed as a rule. Can I ask your opinion about this? Camilasdandelions (talk) 12:52, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Soundtrack albums, such as Harlequin (Lady Gaga album) (see: Talk:Harlequin (Lady Gaga album)#Studio album or soundtrack album?) and The Bodyguard (soundtrack), are not considered as the artist's studio album, unless specified otherwise. In the case of Glitter (soundtrack), it was also promoted as Mariah's eighth studio album (and was expected to commercially perform like one too, leading to her dismissal from her record label after it underperformed).
As for the "standard of studio album", it is based on what it was promoted as by the record label, and not its duration. For example, The Album (Blackpink album) would typically be considered an EP as it is only 24 minutes long, but the record label promoted it as a studio album. Conversely, The Fame Monster is long enough to be a studio album at 34 minutes long, but the record label promoted it as an EP / expanded edition of The Fame.
Hope my explanation has helped a little. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 07:46, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! Your explanation helped me a lot, I hope you have a great day! :) Camilasdandelions (talk) 11:56, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You too! :) TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 13:17, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I just wannna tell you that the information is confirmed by HDD and also Universal Music China. On the official Weibo account of Universal Music China, it confirms the Singapore dates are part of the tour and the only dates in Asia in 2025. Rockiron99 (talk) 09:15, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for reaching out. Maybe the Mayhem promotional concerts article could be merged into The Mayhem Ball. However, in the meantime, its fairly clear that they are two different shows. The earlier Coachella/Mexico/Rio/Singapore dates are much larger sized events than the arena-only Mayhem Ball shows, which Gaga described as: "But with the MAYHEM Ball, I wanted to create a different kind of experience, something more intimate—closer, more connected—that lends itself to the live theatrical art I love to create". TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 09:20, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, on Gaga's Live Nation page ([1]), the earlier shows are not considered part of the Mayhem Ball. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 09:21, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, you're right. I think since these additional dates in MX, BR and SG are kind of special but it's also part of the tour. Maybe you can add some notes in the text and the table because I'm new here I don't know how to do it. Sincerely grateful for this. Rockiron99 (talk) 09:24, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Will take your suggestion into consideration. Thank you! TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 09:26, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Also for your consideration, I insist that they're part of the tour purely because it's confirmed by HDD and the company itself. I don't think they're talking random false info to us. :) Rockiron99 (talk) 09:28, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I found a Rolling Stone article that reports that they are part of the Mayhem Ball tour ([2]), sp I'll leave your changes in for now. Thanks! TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 09:32, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I saw your edition. Thanks a lot! Rockiron99 (talk) 09:53, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about "Label" or "distributor"

[edit]

Hi @TenthAvenueFreezeOut. There's an ongoing discussion about "Label" or "distributor" at album release history table. The discussion remains no further comment since last year. If you're interested, feel free to give your input. Thank you. 183.171.123.139 (talk) 18:53, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Two cover arts proposed for deletion

[edit]

Hello. I've proposed the following below for deletion (WP:PROD):

If left uncontested for at least seven days after the tagging, one or two of them will be deleted. George Ho (talk) 11:37, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to E=MC2 by Mariah Carey, listing only the US release date has been reverted by Wikipedia confirmed users.

FACs

[edit]

Hi! I don't believe we've met yet. My name's MFTP Dan, I've been editing music since 2014, and I'd be pleased to help you out with your Mariah FAC. Before I do, however - and don't feel obligated - I'm just trying to reach out for my own album FAC, see if there are any takers who might be willing to help, as it is nearing archival by timeout. I've reached out to numerous avenues with only one taker, so I thought it'd be worth a try.

Again, no obligation on your part - I'm just being a beggar. Don't think of it as a condition of me helping you; a guy's just desperate for reviews at this point and I'll do whatever it takes. I'll be helping you with yours anyway. mftp dan oops 05:38, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to review if I can, but I am personally not very good at reviewing! I am brand new to the FAC process. If I am able to offer comments, I will. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 07:26, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's the thought that's nice, I appreciate it. Admittedly, I've never reviewed a compilation before, but many studio albums. mftp dan oops 14:07, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you too! TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 15:29, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Three years ago at Beastie Boys

I reverted this edit of yours which violated the guideline at Template:Infobox_musical_artist which says musicians are "listed in order of joining with no other notation than names." We don't put "prominent" members above founding members. Binksternet (talk) 02:25, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Mayhem promotional concerts, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. livelikemusic (TALK!) 13:57, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Where was this "disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting"? Please point out where it was to me. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 15:06, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In this edit, you removed the ending comma from the full date and also did not add one to the content you added to the article, which is in violation of MOS:DATEFORMAT—which means you violated Wikipedia's Manual of Style. livelikemusic (TALK!) 16:03, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for pointing out this error to me, I forgot to add a comma, I’ll take note next time.
However, do you really consider this “disruptive” or “blocked from editing” worthy? Is there a Wikipedia administrator that would consider that such an error necessitates blocking the user from editing? TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 16:50, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, I would like to point out how overzealous you are in reverting users' edits. There's many instances of users complaining about YOUR reverts in your talk page's history. You need to understand how antagonistic and discouraging your behaviour is for editors. Please take note of WP:ROWN. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 17:03, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
