- I need more information as to why it was rejected. I am the Archivist for the Congregation of Holy Cross. All of the information that was listed on that draft submission is factual and supported by hundreds of books, articles, and journals. Much of it comes directly from Brothercolumba.com There is a great deal more that I planned to add beyond just his life, but many pieces about his miracles, and connections to the University of Notre Dame and the Congregation of Holy Cross. I would really like to know specifically what additional information you need to allow this to be approved, as I AM PAID BY THE CONGREGATION OF HOLY CROSS AS THE OFFICIAL ARCHIVIST TTHolyCrossUSa (talk) 15:08, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- Well;
- - The entire thing read like a massive essay rather than a factual, neutral encyclopedia article.
- - It had no sources throughout its entirety, let alone reliable, secondary sources.
- - The entire thing was a copyright violation copy and pasted from another page, which has now been nominated for speedy deletion under criterion G12.
- - You did not declare your paid editing until this comment, which goes against WP:PAID.
- Take your pick. The draft has now been rejected, so it cannot be resubmitted. Rambley (talk) 15:12, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- So I just want to be clear. Because the congregation of Holy Cross pays me in my role as archivist and formation coordinator, I, the person who has all of the information and research, cannot create an article about a Historical figure in the Congregation of Holy Cross and for the University of Notre Dame who is up for Saint Hood? Because I get paid? TTHolyCrossUSa (talk) 15:17, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- You are allowed to edit Wikipedia while being paid by an employer, provided you declare it. As stated on WP:PAID:
- "Editors receiving payment must disclose their employer, client, and affiliation, on their user page, talk page, or in edit summaries. It does not matter whether you are paid directly by the client, or paid indirectly by an employer on behalf of the client. Disclosure is necessary to comply with Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use."
- This lack of disclosure, among the other reasons listed, was why the article was rejected. Rambley (talk) 15:19, 30 June 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Brother Columba O'Neill C.S.C.
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Brother Columba O'Neill C.S.C. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://todayscatholic.org/servant-of-god-brother-columba-john-oneill-csc-1848-1923/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Rambley (talk) 15:05, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
Your article
[edit]I had a look at the deleted article. The main thing I saw was that the style of writing is wrong, it's also claimed that it was copied from online sources. I'd recommend that you look at other articles on saints to look at the house style. We also need references in the biography, like you might do for an academic article. If you want to try again I can look at it before you submit it if you'd like. Secretlondon (talk) 15:41, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- Random examples are Angeline of Marsciano and Diego José de Cádiz. List of beatified people might help. Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia is a good place to start too. Secretlondon (talk) 15:46, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- The article title would not have the honorifics or post nominals it should be at Draft:Columba O'Neill. Your first sentence would have the post nominals but not Brother. Secretlondon (talk) 15:48, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
