Request for administrator nomination

I want to ask yer permission to nominate ya for adminship. I used CentralAuth to check yer global account contributions and ya seem to 'ave enough experience, given yer edits and yer rights. Please, woulda be ya welcome it? Opinions! elias_fdafs  • (Let's Talk! What Have I Done?) 20:29, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for the trust you placed on me. But I do not think I am "admin material" yet. There are still many things I would have to learn as an admin for now. But again, thank you for the trust you are placing on me! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 01:40, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

New page patrol

Hi, is it possible to stop receiving these messages (unless there is a problem) I was self-patrolled for over ten years, then I had a specific issue, and the status was removed. So this is a bit embarrassing/humiliating for me. I remove these comments from my page every time you send them, and I would prefer not to have to do that. Thank you. Keizers (talk) 16:10, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for voicing your concerns and I will refrain from messaging you in the further. It is designed to encourage people, not embarrassing people. On the other hand I might forget about your request in the future so if I made another mistake in the future it is not intentional at all. Have a great day! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 01:08, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

TamaRock

Dear SunDawn I'm coming back to you as you were my last point of contact. As you might recall, you moved my sandbox article 'Water Polo in New South Wales' to draftspace, and I then spent a number of hours working on it, researching and adding over 20 citations. I pressed the button to have the draft reviewed, and nothing happened. When I came back to it this morning... I could only find the original draft, with my latest hard worked draft seemingly lost? The other issue is I read that for some reason, 'Hoary' has removed my user page for TamaRock/sandbox... I'm ready to re-submit the work... but I must say, how difficult this process is... while editors such as yourself might find it a simple thing and even mundane... it is a daunting space for casual users such as I. My problem now is... where do I go from here to resubmit my article, and how do I reactivate my user page, if it is inactive? If you have minute, I'd very much appreciate your kindly assistance... TamaRock TamaRock (talk) 05:36, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello TamaRock! Unfortunately I am out of town for work and unable to assist you today. So sorry for that.
I have checked the revision history in the draft and your contributions, it seems like the "improved article" never gets published at the first place. The correct button is to "publish" and not "have the draft reviewed" - it's likely you didn't save the change and the improvement is gone. I am so sorry and I know this is not the outcome you wanted.
I encouraged you to try to add the references again, but try to add it partially instead of whole thing. I will do my utmost to assist you. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 12:52, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

Unattributed translations

Hi there, and thank you for all your help with NPP during the backlog drive! As I was looking over some of your reviews, I noticed a few unattributed translations (e.g., Pädagogischer Austauschdienst, Heinrich von Hügel). You aren't required to be on the lookout for unattributed translations during NPP, but I thought I would bring this to your attention. I've noticed the following signifiers for translated articles:

  • Oddly worded or punctuated lead sentence (e.g., John Smith -- English mechanic, born 1957)
  • Multiple interwiki links
  • Most / all of the sources are in another language (and may be formatted oddly)

If I find some of these, I tend to check the page history to see if there's a translation attribution. If not, I'll search for the article on the appropriate Wiki, then do a quick Google Translate to see if the content is very similar. If so, you can add the attribution and/or reach out to the article creator.

Thanks again for all your help! Let me know if you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns about this. Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 02:52, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for the tips! That is very helpful. I will be on a lookout for these signifiers the next time I am reviewing the article. Thank you again for your help! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 10:08, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

A user disappeared

Hello, I have a huge problem. A user who destroyed the entire gallery page of Tux (mascot) long ago, had the edit reverted by me and a few others. But then that user disappeared from Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. The user's name is Crazysnipercatt00. The user did not even mention about retirement on their user page, and there are no signs of the user left. You can find the user's last evidence on Talk:Tux (mascot). Gnu779 ( talk) 13:49, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

I have checked the username in question and outside the 4 edits made on English Wikipedia the editor haven't made any other edits. The editor is still there, but likely to be inactive. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 17:02, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
Oh yeah. It took me long time to finally finish reverting it, Gnu779 ( talk) 14:34, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
