Hello, I'm Gommeh. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Travel insurance because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Slaatp25. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page User:Slaatp25/Aon Affinity Travel Practice, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Though you haven't moved it, or requested to have it moved, to article status yet, I figured it might save you time if I let you know now: The article you're drafting, as written, is an advertisement and won't be permitted to stand as a Wikipedia article. Largoplazo (talk) 22:27, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am in process of adding COI disclosures, which I already added to my own profile and to that of the page. I was preparing to have others look at it and follow the guidelines to have others actually post. That is why this is in my own drafts Slaatp25 (talk) 22:41, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Now I see that you have attempted to disclose a COI on your user page, so that's great, but that's not what the template you used is for. It's for placement on the Talk page of any article over which you may have a COI. To disclose your COI on your user page, you can just declare it in a sentence or two, I don't think there's a special template for it. Largoplazo (talk) 22:41, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Yes, learning.
So if I add something like my employer, is that good, and then submit this through the correct process so others can add it if they deem it worthy, there was a specific process, which I will follow. Slaatp25 (talk) 22:42, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There's the WP:Articles for creation process to submit it. As I said, no one will approve a request submitted through that process for a page that's entirely promotional. You're discouraged from creating the article at all, but if you decide to go ahead with it, you'll need to rewrite it to read neutrally as though you were writing about something boring like clouds or digestion. Also, I was mistaken, there is a template for use on your user page, {{UserboxCOI}}, as explained at WP:DISCLOSE. Largoplazo (talk) 22:47, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I went to the talk page of our parent company, Aon, and only option I see is adding a new topic. I don't see how I can use a template to provide disclosure. Slaatp25 (talk) 22:44, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
See item 1 of the instructions at WP:DISCLOSE. Use the "Edit source" option to edit the talk page and place the template according to the instructions. Largoplazo (talk) 22:48, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you're writing about your employer, then there is a higher standard of disclosure that you must make. You would be considered a paid editor, which requires the {{connected contributor (paid)}} template on the talk page of the affected article, or the {{paid}} template on your userpage (preferably both). --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:07, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple usernames

[edit]

On another topic, I realized that you just started editing under this account after editing under Slaatp2025. Whatever your reason is for switching to another account, you ought to read WP:Username policy#Using multiple accounts and familiarize yourself with the guidelines for such use. Largoplazo (talk) 22:52, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I had trouble connecting and retried using different account. I can delete account or merge, whatever correct protocol is if you can point me in right direction. Slaatp25 (talk) 00:59, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is not possible to delete or merge accounts on English Wikipedia. So, my advice is to abandon the Slaatp2025 account - don't log into it again. Otherwise you run the risk of being accused of sockpuppetry, which is treated very seriously. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 11:54, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
