Speedy deletion nomination of User:1receipt/sandbox
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:1receipt/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. (See section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Cabayi (talk) 07:04, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Speedy deletion nomination of User:1receipt

Feb 2025 - unblock request

You have proposed your new username as "change my username from 1receipt to Sfaraji". I assume you just want "Sfaraji". What edits do you intend to make? Are you still affiliated with 1reciept? 331dot (talk) 09:48, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. Yes, I am requesting to change my username from "1receipt" to "Sfaraji" to better comply with Wikipedia’s username policy and avoid any implication of representing a company. My goal is to contribute constructively to Wikipedia by editing articles related to notable topics, such as fintech innovations, sustainability initiatives, and Australian startups, where I have some knowledge to share. I plan to focus on improving existing articles with reliable, neutral, and well-sourced content.
- To clarify, I am still affiliated with 1receipt as its founder, but my intent here is to participate as an individual editor, not to promote the company. I understand Wikipedia’s conflict-of-interest guidelines and will ensure my contributions remain impartial and adhere to the site’s standards. Please let me know if there’s anything else I need to address regarding the username change to get my account unblocked. 1receipt (talk) 11:14, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- "Startups" almost never merit Wikipedia articles; a company must become established and recognized in its field to draw the significant coverage in independent reliable sources needed to merit a Wikipedia article according to our criteria. Same goes for "innovations"(usually its too soon for an article). Wikipedia is not for sharing personal knowledge, only for summarizing independent reliable sources that we can verify.
- That said, please see conflict of interest and paid editing(which includes being financially associated with a topic, I assume you founded your company to earn a living). Please describe how you will contribute when you have a conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 13:45, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I understand now that a company needs significant media coverage to be on Wikipedia, with the right references to back the claims. 1receipt (talk) 18:55, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Would you like me to share some example of notable media news articles to back my point? 1receipt (talk) 19:01, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Perhaps later(once unblocked), but right now I'm interested in how you will contribute about topics for which you have a conflict of interest. I'm an admin and I haven't read every single rule(there are more than you probably think); you don't need to know every single rule, but I'm interested in your understanding of WP:COI. 331dot (talk) 20:12, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- According to the WP:COI clause (which states that "you should disclose your COI when involved with affected articles;"), I will certainly disclose that I am associated with the company.
- The reason I’m requesting an unblock is that I want to build a company page, as we are no longer just a startup. We have received notable media coverage from sources such as 9news.com.au, the Victorian Government, and RMIT University, among others—I’m happy to share these for review. 1receipt (talk) 23:39, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

- (Non-administrator comment) Hi @1receipt, I might be wrong, but your reply looks a little bit like it was written by AI or an LLM. If it was, I wanted to warn against using it (especially in unblock appeals) since it can't really understand what you're being asked to do & can give incorrect or inaccurate information.
- AI also tends to use a vague or promotional-sounding tone, which isn't really appropriate for an encyclopedia (see this link for a fuller explanation).
- I'd also like to suggest reading WP:NOTPROMO and this tutorial, which will help you to understand why you were originally blocked and how to avoid similar issues in future. Blue Sonnet (talk) 14:23, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, but that’s really harsh to think that. The entire response was written by me, Shahryar Faraji. I’ve already gone through all the Wikipedia rules and understand them NOW. 1receipt (talk) 18:59, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Please see it from our point of view- many people use AI chatbots to write their unblock requests; I see at least one a day, if not more. I can understand someone being a bit jaded about that. 331dot (talk) 20:15, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

I know there are other rules for WP:COI, and I’m not going to be the sole editor/reviewer—there will be multiple external editors who will write the company page (to avoid any biased opinions) based on notable media sources. 1receipt (talk) 00:18, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Are you saying that you have other editors lined up? We can't guarantee other editors will contribute to a particular draft. I've been looking for you to say that you will use the draft process. I guess I will ask you what your three(only three, please) best independent reliable sources are. These should not be brief mentions, interviews, or the reporting of routine business activities.
- You probably think I'm giving you the third degree, but in this situation usually I look for the editor to agree to refrain from editing about their company and edit in other areas, as a demonstration of their understanding of relevant policies. Otherwise it usually wastes everyone's time(including the editor). That's why I was looking for you to show your understanding of COI. We also usually want people who are interested in contributing more broadly than just their COI topic. Our articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject.
- I'd encourage you to think of it less as a "company page" and more like an article about your company. This is not semantics, but an important if subtle distinction. 331dot (talk) 01:04, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the feedback. I really appreciate it, and I will be sure to factor it in.
- How about I write the draft of my company article first, and you review it? Then, if it meets all the requirements, you can go ahead with unblocking my account and publishing it for the public. 1receipt (talk) 01:10, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- To clarify the editors: it will be myself, one other expert encyclopaedia writer, and one anonymous reviewer. 1receipt (talk) 01:14, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Regarding the others, they should not edit while you are blocked, or they may be blocked as sockpuppets of you. If you are paying them, the Terms of Use require them to disclose that(see WP:PAID). Even if not paid, they should disclose their relationship to you. I'm actually deeply concerned that you've lined up a "reviewer"- that is stepping outside the draft submission process that you will need to use; an independent editor will need to review it.
- In my opinion there are two pathways forward here:
- agree to temporarily refrain from editing about your company and edit about the other topic areas you mentioned(being mindful of my comments above)
- show three sources that you can summarize that establish that the company meets WP:ORG, agreeing to use the Article Wizard to create and submit a draft for independent editors to review
- Or, you can make a new unblock request for someone else to review. 331dot (talk) 01:28, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, let’s move forward with the first pathway you mentioned—I will temporarily refrain from editing about my company until everything is clear and transparent. 1receipt (talk) 01:34, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- All right, I have renamed you and, given your agreement, will remove the block. Courtesy ping to Cabayi. My suggestion would be to get a couple hundred edits under your belt and see if they stick(for the most part) before soliciting some community input as to if it is thought you could create and submit a draft about your company via the WP:WIZARD. If others edit with you, they should disclose this so it is clear you are all distinct individuals. 331dot (talk) 01:59, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your assistance. Sfaraji (talk) 02:01, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

- Thanks @AllCatsAreGrey, the article Draft:1receipt is not the correct one (I created it by mistake). I’ve included the path to the new, cited article for review in the comment. The correct article is Draft:1receipt (digital receipt services). Could you please advise? Thanks. Sfaraji (talk) 03:37, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- I find it hard to believe that you accidentally created a new draft to promote a draft awaiting review. Especially when you were previously blocked for promo. Also, why have you not disclosed your COI? – AllCatsAreGrey (talk) 03:42, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- @AllCatsAreGrey, this is my first time writing a fully cited Wiki article, going over the guidelines one by one. Have you saw the new article Draft:1receipt (digital receipt services)?
- Also, how to disclose COI in the article? Sfaraji (talk) 03:45, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- You can find that here: WP:DISCLOSE – AllCatsAreGrey (talk) 03:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks.
- You can go ahead and delete Draft:1receipt and I will edit the correct article which is Draft:1receipt (digital receipt services) to disclose myself as the COI. Sfaraji (talk) 03:52, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Firstly, the draft title would be at Draft:1receipt, without needless disambiguation. Secondly, articles should not have any external links outside the "External links" section at the end, and this one had three just in the lead. It also was clearly pushing the company, and Wikipedia articles may not promote anyone or anything. If you were to be unblocked, it would be with a total prohibition about editing anything about 1receipt, in draft form or otherwise. Do you have anything else you're interested in editing? Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:11, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Seraphimblade as you know, this was my first article contribution, and I’m going through the guidelines one by one. I had no intention of promoting or advertising any service.
- That said, once I’m unblocked, I will not contribute to any articles that include “External links” or have any “advertorial” content or anything directly related to 1receipt.
- Could you please let me know what type of article this is in relation to Square (financial services)? Thanks. Sfaraji (talk) 06:48, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

- You would need to agree not to edit in any way about "1receipt". If that's all you're interested in editing, you will remain blocked. If you are interested in editing other articles without ever mentioning, linking to, etc., 1receipt, an unblock may be considered. You will not be unblocked if you intend to further edit about 1receipt. Seraphimblade Talk to me 07:56, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Yes, it will be on your talk page. You already got one unblock, and went right back to spamming about your company. I tend to be pretty forgiving on second chances, but third chances are another story. I'm not going to unblock you; you can place another unblock request to see if anyone else will.
