Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 11:49, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Hi team,

I am the Alumni and Development Officer for Maidstone Grammar School (MGS) and part of my role is to promote the school and its alumni. This means that I can update the Maidstone Grammar School page with additional information based on our engagement with former members and our Archivist.

I'm happy to change my username but since it is a reflection of my job within the school it seemed appropriate to be transparent. Happy to change it to something else if you can suggest something more acceptable?

Thanks in advance,

Susanne MGSDevAlumni (talk) 13:01, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You should read WP:COI and WP:PAID. You should not edit the article directly, but make edit requests on the talk page. You should also read WP:V. PhilKnight (talk) 01:32, 3 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your username needs to indicate that a specific person operates this account and gives no one else access(including colleagues/successors to your position). You can indicate your school within your username, such as "JaneDoe of MGS". Please also see WP:PAID and WP:COI. 331dot (talk) 13:05, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've renamed you. Please see WP:PAID and WP:COI and tell us what will change about how you contribute information about your school. 331dot (talk) 13:29, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

I realise from the information provided that I need to request edits rather than directly change the page. Now that I know that I will ensure my edit requests are sent for approval prior to publishing.

Apologies for the error. SD of MGS (talk) 08:43, 3 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I will give you the chance to do as described below. 331dot (talk) 13:08, 3 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please place new posts at the bottom, so they stay in order. This may be easier to do if you click "edit" at the top or in the section header and not "reply". The reply function is imperfect and doesn't work well in every situation(which is only learned through experience).

Do you understand that you will need to disclose as a paid editor? To clarify, whomever reviews your request will actually make the edit if it's deemed acceptable. 331dot (talk) 09:09, 3 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I do understand that I need to disclose that I am editing as an employee of Maidstone Grammar School and that my request to edit will only be approved by whomever reviews it and deems it acceptable. SD of MGS (talk) 13:23, 3 July 2025 (UTC)}}[reply]

You need to do this on the article talk page, Talk:Maidstone Grammar School. You also need to place the edit request template without the "nowiki" tags which serve to suppress its proper function. You probably should use {{edit COI}}; if the coding is too challenging, there is an edit request wizard. 331dot (talk) 10:26, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
