With some exceptions, whatever you like. Most users will use it to experiment with syntax and formatting, I've used it to work on larger edits or getting a rough draft for an entire article down before moving it to draftspace. The sandbox is overall much less strict on following Wikipedia policy since it's meant to be a testing space. You can read more at Wikipedia:About the sandbox.
