Nervilia simplex, the species

[edit]

Please consider creating an article on Nervilia simplex, the species. You could include information on the new subspecies in that article. The information about the species on Wikidata at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q98106764 may be helpful. You could also create article at Wikispecies about Nervilia simplex . Hello Rimjhim Chandra and thank you for your work here.

Are you the same Rimjhim Chandra who, with others, wrote a paper entitled "Nervilia simplex (Thouars) Schltr. (Orchidaceae) – an addition to the flora of Himachal Pradesh, India"?

If so, perhaps you can explain why the paper attributes the name of the plant to "(Thouars) Schltr.", whilst your edit to the Wikipedia article mentions neither Thouars nor Rudolf Schlechter, but instead claims the plant was "first formally described in 1846 by Heinrich Zollinger and Alexander Moritzi who gave it the name Bolborchis crociformis."

How did "crociformis" become "simplex"?

The answer to the question is quite simple - The plant was first formally described by Thouars as Arethusa simplex, later transferred by Schlechter to Nervilia as N. simplex.

Schlechter transferred Thouars' Arethusa simplex to Nervilia simplex in Botanische Jahrbücher für Systematik, Pflanzengeschichte und Pflanzengeographie.[1]

Good Afternoon!
Respected Sir/ Ma'am,
Yes, I am the Rimjhim Chandra who wrote a paper entitled "Nervilia simplex (Thouars) Schltr. (Orchidaceae) – an addition to the flora of Himachal Pradesh, India". As per your suggestions I have added the line and its reference, The plant was first formally described by Thouars as Arethusa simplex, later transferred by Schlechter to Nervilia as N. simplex.
Schlechter transferred Thouars' Arethusa simplex to Nervilia simplex in Botanische Jahrbücher für Systematik, Pflanzengeschichte und Pflanzengeographie, in the Nervilia simplex article please check.
Thanks and regards,
Yours sincelerly,
Rimjhim Chandra. Rimjhim Chandra (talk) 08:24, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
