  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.

IP Address is blocked and is affecting other accounts

[edit]

To Ahecht, why did you block the IP Address 139.135.241.105? Now other users which doesn't even use a VPN, including me, are affected. Can you reconsider? And please add the reason as to why would you block this IP address. I know this address is blocked because it belongs to a VPN service, but I think it's not since this IP address also exist and is being used by certain accounts. Please add the reason for me to understand what happened. RetroSphinx963 (talk) 11:06, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@RetroSphinx963 That IP address was blocked for being an open proxy (see WP:NOP) because the mw:Trust_and_Safety_Product/IP_Info IP information tool showed about 15 separate proxies and 50+ users on that IP. If you feel that this is no longer accurate, please submit an unblock request at Wikipedia:Open proxies noticeboard. --Ahecht (TALK

@Ahecht, I submitted an appeal to at least unblock my account and it was declined. Tried to submit an unblock request with the link you sent and it didn't work because apparently, I don't have any rights to edit the page, mainly because my IP address is blocked. Please think carefully before blocking an IP address. Having 50+ users on that IP doesn't mean that they're abusing their editing permission. It's not their fault if it's their default IP address. And having 50+ users on that IP doesn't mean that the address is a proxy. Here in the Philippines, some WiFi providers use that specific IP address and some people especially in Metro Manila almost use the same IP address because they literally have the same network. Can't you be careful in blocking an IP address? It'll take at least 7 months before the ban goes away, so it's a bit disappointing considering the fact that I love to contribute here on Wikipedia. @RetroSphinx963 I temporarily lifted the block, but note that it will be reinstated if vandalism resumes from that IP address. --Ahecht (TALK
