Question from Theverify2025 (02:14, 11 April 2025)

Hi there

How do I create a page? --Theverify2025 (talk) 02:14, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

@Theverify2025, Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read WP:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out WP:TUTORIAL; it's a lot of fun! Happy editing! — Qwerfjkltalk 14:29, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Subhashyadav120 (07:28, 11 April 2025)

Dear Sir and Madam, I am new to Wikipedia at this time and I am facing a lot of problems while working. Like, the data of most of the companies which are listed in the Indian stock market is updated every year and every three months. I update that data in the old posts of Wikipedia. My problem with this is that when I update the data, I have to give its reference from a big media channel or news. But many times I have seen that there is no relevant data on those big news websites. And if I take data from a small website and give its reference, then that link is removed from Wikipedia. I have been told that I am spamming due to which Wikipedia can suspend my account. Due to which I am not updating any post on Wikipedia right now --Subhashyadav120 (talk) 07:28, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Subhashyadav120, you might have better luck using a primary source, where the data comes from directly. These should be more reliable. — Qwerfjkltalk 14:34, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Kwizerajean (02:26, 12 April 2025)

Hello, I want to publish my Bio on wikipedia --Kwizerajean (talk) 02:26, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Whynoms (00:16, 12 April 2025)

hello! I was just wondering, if I were to update some of my cities and their newest info, what would be appropriate on their infobox? for instance, mine just got an event center and I was wondering if that'd be alright to put up as an image. --Whynoms (talk) 00:16, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

@Whynoms, assuming the articles use {{infobox settlement}}, the documentation for using images can be found at Template:Infobox settlement#Images, nickname, motto. It suggests only using an image for the skyline. (If the infobox is differrent, check the documentation for that specific template.) — Qwerfjkltalk 10:03, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Kwizerajean (02:38, 12 April 2025)

I want to add this to Wikipedia

I'm not the person you're supposed to be hearing from but it sounds you may have better luck on Rwandan Wikipedia, rw.wikipedia.org Folsom WikiDude (talk) 05:31, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
Wait for Qwerfjkl to confirm though, they're smarter than me. Folsom WikiDude (talk) 05:32, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
Kwizerajean, Folsom WikiDude is correct in that you will need to use the Rwandan Wikipedia. In addition, you probably shouldn't write an autobiography. — Qwerfjkltalk 10:08, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Abdi saakir1 (14:55, 10 April 2025)

Hi Qwerfjkl, i would like to ask you about one issue!. i can not edit or add a particular article on Wikipedia Some articles are locked and they contain outdated informations or old pictures, so i request if you can change or allow me to do --Abdi saakir1 (talk) 14:55, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Abdi saakir1, you can typically make an edit request for such articles. What are the specific changes on articles you want to make? — Qwerfjkltalk 14:57, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
i did request but no response, the Article is about a Town which they added some misinformations and old images, so i wanted to edit and or add New representative images from (Wikipedia common) for the Town and Latest updates Abdi saakir1 (talk) 15:05, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
I can see here and here you added a section, but you didn't elaborate on what exactly you wanted changed. Remember that everyone on Wikipedia is a volunteer - they don't want to have to guess at what you want. I recommend you follow the steps at Wikipedia:Edit requests#Making requests and in particular the Edit Request Wizard (which you can also get to from my first link). Hope this helps. Qwerfjkltalk 14:28, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
v Abdi saakir1 (talk) 15:40, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
Abdi saakir1, Talk:Las Anod (Diff ~1285080148) is not going to get anything done. You need to actually explain what you want changed and why. — Qwerfjkltalk 09:57, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
it's been the second time i added an edit request to the talk page of Las Anod, both times i clearly listed all my points and what i want to be changed and what i want to be replaced, i don't know what kind of strict rules do Wikipedia use just for a simple request.! Abdi saakir1 (talk) 11:55, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
@Abdi saakir1, the entire content of your request was "b". Qwerfjkltalk 15:20, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Folsom WikiDude (01:52, 12 April 2025)

Do you know why Draft:Sutter Middle School got 3 feedbacks in 2 days but then its been quiet for the past week? (again sry if bad question im new & bad) --Folsom WikiDude (talk) 01:52, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

I should add, I know it says it can take months, but the previous responses were very fast. Is it just good luck running up? Sorry, I have been waiting for what feels like a while (it's not that long), and I feel impatient even though I know I shouldn't be. I'm really sorry for taking up your time. Folsom WikiDude (talk) 05:27, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

Folsom WikiDude, yes, it may just be luck. Drafts are reviewed in no particular order. That said, seeing a draft that has been declined multiple times for the same reason can be off putting to reviewers - you might have better luck if you make more of an effort to address the feedback, instead of resubmitting. — Qwerfjkltalk 10:05, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I'll try and work on finding more notable sources in the future. Folsom WikiDude (talk) 18:35, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

Duplicate MassMessages

Hi Qwerfjkl! Hope you are having a nice weekend :)

As you can probably tell, something is off with Qwerfjkl (bot) (BRFA · contribs · actions log · block log · flag log · user rights) appears to be a little trigger-happy with sending out mass messages for posts at WP:VPM (see MassMessage log). I've gotten two copies of Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous)/Archive 81#Final proposed modifications to the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines and U4C Charter now posted, and I also got two copies of Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous)/Archive 81#Universal Code of Conduct annual review: provide your comments on the UCoC and Enforcement Guidelines. Would you be able to investigate? Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 20:56, 5 April 2025 (UTC)

HouseBlaster, this is unfortunately a bug I know of (see User talk:Qwerfjkl/Archive 64#Bot sending the same message over and over again) - it's due to a bug in EventStreams, I think. I'll have a shot at fixing it tomorrow. — Qwerfjkltalk 21:20, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, as always, Qwerfjkl :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 21:23, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
@HouseBlaster, I have now given a shot at fixing this (by logging all the messages it sends and then checking that list before sending a message). Let me know if the issue persists (or if the bot stops working at all). — Qwerfjkltalk 10:16, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, Qwerfjkl! I'll let you know if it is working :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 17:44, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Well, seems to be at least not entirely broken. — Qwerfjkltalk 19:24, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Mario662629 (21:44, 5 May 2025)

Uhh... I checked my abuse log and saw some edit filters triggered. One of them was a "possible template vandalism" that was simply me trying, but failing to, update a template in a template sandbox, leading to me reverting it. Also, I'm planning to post an article on GDI malwares, and although they are popular on YouTube, there are not many articles on them. I have a draft for now. --Mario662629 (talk) 21:44, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

Mario662629, so... what is your question? — Qwerfjkltalk 06:53, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
I'm worried to post my article on GDI malware because of the reasons above. I said that, although they are popular, there are not many articles on them. Here's the link to the draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:GDI_malware Mario662629 (talk) 12:02, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
Mario662629, you may want to have a look at Wikipedia:Notability (software) and make sure it passes, or else you will be wasting your time on the draft. None of your sources are reliable currently. — Qwerfjkltalk 16:38, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
There are not many sources. The only sources I could find for these GDI malwares include:
  • The wiki page listed in the draft (https://holdon.fandom.com/wiki/GDI_Malware), including the links in that leading to pages for further malwares
  • The GitHub profiles of the creators and the malwares
  • The YouTube videos of the malwares
Mario662629 (talk) 16:36, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Mario662629, I am afraid if you cannot find decent sources, you cannot write an article about it. — Qwerfjkltalk 16:55, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
  • The article has a notability warning placed on it:
  • The article has lots of [citation needed] messages.
  • The article was tagged with several WikiProjects tags.
Mario662629 (talk) 17:19, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
@Qwerfjkl: Please read the reply above to continue helping me about this article; which is specifically being made to get these popular, fan-made malwares to have good descriptions on Google and/or for ChatGPT to give accurate info about them (e.g. trichloromethane.exe was made before ChatGPT's last knowledge update, but it still gives inaccurate info about it). The draft has notices on it and was tagged with several WikiProjects tags. Mario662629 (talk) 14:17, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Mario662629, notices are for articles, whereas it is still a draft. I, personally, would suggest abandoning the article unless you can find evidence it is notable. — Qwerfjkltalk 16:48, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from FFRI1684 (13:08, 8 May 2025)

Hey there Mentor :) I have for years now been irked by edits to the General Nathanael Greene page done 12/22/2018 [8] and finally am able to give some focus to this and figure out how to make proper edits in Wikipedia... Wondering if you have any advice for how to best rectify this slew of one source edits posted on one particular day? In particular, wondering which would be easier: (A) Reverting to the pre-12/22/18 version then adding edits made since by others? OR (B) Using current version, editing single source footnotes to add better citations? OR (C) Some other approach? Thanks for any advice you can give! --FFRI1684 (talk) 13:08, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

FFRI1684, there's nothing wrong per se with relying on a single source (particularly if the article had no sources before), but it will tend to a more biased article. I would suggest adding more citations (you don't need to remove the single source, particularly if you can verify it backs up what it's used as reference for). — Qwerfjkltalk 16:45, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice :) will see how things evolve.... 68.0.206.86 (talk) 02:03, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from 1chrysalis (19:01, 8 May 2025)

Good afternoon. Quick question. If I edit an article about a word, do I get credit for it? --1chrysalis (talk) 19:01, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

1chrysalis, all (most) edits on Wikipedia are licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, so there is a legal obligation to credit you if something you have edited is used elsewhere, unless you waive copyright. — Qwerfjkltalk 15:43, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Reign Evert (20:24, 8 May 2025)

Why didn't my edited page get published --Reign Evert (talk) 20:24, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Reign Evert, you have not created any pages on this account, so I have no idea what you are referring to. — Qwerfjkltalk 15:43, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Elsie Lovelock

Hello Qwerfjkl, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Elsie Lovelock, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elsie Lovelock.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Clarityfiend}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Clarityfiend, I made the redirect, but the article was made with Elsie Lovelock (Diff ~1150766051). — Qwerfjkltalk 11:38, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
