Hello, Plinius Maior. Thank you for your contributions, including asking for better sources at List of English words of Dravidian origin. Pages like that are frequently in need of more and better sourcing.

In this case, though, Meriam-Webster online states: "Portuguese caixa, from Tamil kācu, a small copper coin, from Sanskrit karṣa, a weight of gold or silver". In other words, the Portuguese word was borrowed from Tamil, not the other way around. On the other hand, though, the Tamil word appears to derive from Sanskrit, so in some sense this might not be "of Dravidian origin" (though that is a matter of controversy, no doubt).
