How to assert Notability
[edit]I'll be posting more relevant information on this. Am new at wikipedia. How do I talk to the editor re: notability?
- What article are you talking about? Maybe I can help! =) Berserkerz Crit 11:55, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok so first things first. The most important policy here in Wikipedia to evade deletion is WP:ATT (also look at sub article WP:Note) which the gist is the article must contain information that can be attributed to a source, preferably a credible and third-party source (newspaper or news is the best of course). Now for the meantime, you can look the way I fixed Nityalila. You have sources but you improperly labeled them as External links, they should be titled References. When you write a paragraph or statement, write <ref>[link linktitle]</ref> after the punctuation and for the ==References== section, write <references/> or {{reflist}}. That's it for now so you can remedy the article quickly.Berserkerz Crit 12:09, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- Also, don't put too many adjectives describing what Jordan does in the lead or the first sentences/paragraph. Write the most important thing he does and which he is famous for and deserving of an article. Usually, it goes like Sponge Cola is a Filipino rock band blah blah blah. Berserkerz Crit 12:17, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi Berserker Crit, thanks for the advice, just wanted to put some info first. I'm going to change the external links to references then? Btw, Jourdan invented the Dreamer's Manifesto, which a lot of artistes and companies have adopted. I think that's fairly notable in and by itself. How do I put in the entry? A separate section? Pageman 21:21, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I've reverted the inclusion of the Dreamer's Manifesto. WP doesn't allow word per word or verbatim copy of something, that would be a copyvio. (See WP:NOT and WP:C) What you should do is to write the importance of the Dreamer's Manifesto which you've said a lot of artists and companies have adopted, and then reference it. Also, it's not enough to change External Links to References, when I say improperly labeled, sites such as manila bulletin or any reputable third-party sources that assert an article's notability fall under References while blogspot or multiply or myspace sites or an official first-party site fall under External Links. (See WP:CITE) I'll try to help you in the referencing part but you still have to put there what makes Jourdan Sebastian famous and deserving of a WP article. Berserkerz Crit 08:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
thanks for this - I'll try to organize the references and external links. the shadowbot did a revert already before I read this note :)Pageman 20:11, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Regarding edits made to Jourdan Sebastian
[edit]Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Pageman! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule .+\.multiply\.com, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 20:07, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Pageman. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Pageman~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]![]() |
US Banknote Contest | ![]() |
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |

File permission problem with File:Jourdan Sebastian 001.JPG
[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:Jourdan Sebastian 001.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sreejith K (talk) 04:22, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
