Control copyright icon Hello OreFes! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 11:24, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi OreFes. Please stop adding this content back to Oladapo Ashiru. Adding text copied from copyrighted sources is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies, so it will continue to be removed if you add it back in. If you think I am mistaken about this being a copyright violation, let me know and I'm happy to discuss it further. You're also more than welcome to make edits to the page as long as you write your additions in your own words. Thanks. MCE89 (talk) 12:06, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi OreFes. In our discussion on my talk page, I explained that you needed to make the appropriate paid editing disclosure in order to comply with the Terms of Use, and explained that you were strongly discouraged from editing the article Oladapo Ashiru directly. You said that you would take the appropriate steps to do so, but I can see that you have started editing the page again without making a paid editing disclosure. Please make sure to do so before making any further edits by following the instructions at WP:PAID.

In addition, I would reiterate my advice that you familiarise yourself with Wikipedia's core content policies, including the importance of maintaining a neutral point of view and including citations to reliable sources. Your latest additions to the page don't appear to be copyright violations anymore, which is great to see, but they are still entirely unsourced and contain inappropriate promotional language like where he continued his groundbreaking work in anatomy and reproductive medicine and Born on November 3, 1950, into the esteemed Ashiru Dynasty of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Professor Oladapo Ashiru embarked on a distinguished academic and professional journey. Feel free to reach out to me or try asking at the Teahouse if you have questions about those policies or about how to make appropriate edits on Wikipedia. Thanks. Hello thanks again for your message, I am still trying to learn the interface and hence I am not sure of hoe to add the WP:PAID, I would like to state however that I am receiving no monetary compensation for this work as it is not part of my Job description it is more of a personal favor out of the respect I have for him, should I still add the WP:PAID?.
I will be sure to change the promotional language OreFes (talk) 17:23, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for adding that paid editing disclosure! While it may not be part of your job description, the fact that you work for him means that you are considered a paid editor on Wikipedia, so it's good that you've added the disclosure.
Unfortunately your most recent edits are still not appropriate additions to the article. As I said, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that all content must be verifiable through citations to reliable sources. Your edits are still entirely unsourced. They also still contain inappropriate promotional language, like distinguished academic and professional journey, his groundbreaking work in anatomy and reproductive medicine, his academic excellence and contributions and reported on various insightful topics.
What you need to do is find reliable, independent sources (e.g. newspaper articles, research papers) that talk about Oladapo Ashiru. You should then write your proposed addition to the page based entirely on what is contained in those reliable sources while including a citation for each piece of information. You can refer to Help:Referencing for beginners if you need help with citing sources. Once you've written out your proposed edit to the page, you should submit an edit request on the talk page so that another editor can review your proposed edit, rather than editing the page directly and leaving an edit request on the talk page afterwards. Okay thank you for the information, most of the information have not been cited because I am actively looking for them or they may not be available online(how then will it be classified as credible), I am still reviewing the additions I made and removing promotional language.
I did submit a edit request and I got a response that I could make changes before making the new changes do I have to submit a draft to the talk page. OreFes (talk) 10:42, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's important that you identify reliable sources first and then write your content based on those sources, rather than writing backwards by finding the sources after you've already written the content. You are welcome to cite offline sources, but please don't add anything back to the page until you have found sources for all of the information you are adding. Wikipedia has high sourcing standards for biographies of living people.
You are not prohibited from editing the article, but Wikipedia does very strongly discourage editors who have a COI from editing affected articles directly. It would be a good idea to submit your proposed edits as a COI edit request on the talk page so that another editor can confirm that they comply with the relevant policies and guidelines first. MCE89 (talk) 10:49, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi OreFes. I can see that you have again added unsourced content directly to your employer's page. As I have explained, all content on Wikipedia — particularly content about living persons — needs to be supported by a reliable source. In this edit, you added information about Ashiru's relatives without citing a source to support it. In this edit, you added information about his military service that is not verified by any of the sources. Your contributions to Wikipedia are very welcome, but please do not edit your employer's page directly again. You should write out your proposed additions to the article while including a reliable source to verify every claim you are adding, and then submit a COI edit request on the article talk page. If you add unsourced or promotional content to the page again I will raise this issue at the COI noticeboard. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 09:02, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
