Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, ODMpr, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Greg Smith (Oregon politician), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Information icon Hello, I'm Tacyarg. I noticed that you recently removed content from Greg Smith (Oregon politician) without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. You have "pr" in your username; are you working in behalf of Smith, or do you know him or work for him? Thanks. Tacyarg (talk) 23:24, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Tacy, did you see my note to Eric Schucht? I had the supporting articles and was correcting the incorrect information from the original source. Please review history when you have a moment to see ODMpr (talk) 22:20, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, please would you answer the question about your username having "pr" in it, and whether you know or work for Smith? You removed text and references which were critical of Smith, so I'm wondering if you have a connexion to him. Thanks. Tacyarg (talk) 05:38, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Tacyarg, Puerto Rico - where I am originally from and my name Orlando Damian Marrero (ODM)
I am starting to get more involved in politics because I think there is a real need to have clear, concise, and truthfulness in the media and information we consume instead of bias and rumors. ODMpr (talk) 02:04, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
While I have you, I reached out to a few people but have not gotten a response ... how do I add a page for a candidate? I have been keeping track of a few announcements in Ohio, Arizona, and Michigan but the candidates do not have pages. ODMpr (talk) 02:05, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for explaining your username. Your first article is a good place to start. Note that candidates may not be notable enough for articles - it will depend whether they have received enough coverage. See the notability guidelines for politicians. Tacyarg (talk) 05:58, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, also what about Greg Smith? Again if you read my changes I reference the proper articles and cite the proper information for neutrality ODMpr (talk) 20:43, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Have had a look again; I see you made the changes a second time and another editor reverted them. Given this, you're probably best off starting a discussion on the article's Talk page and gaining consensus for your changes there. Did you see my edit summary, Reverting removal of referenced information; not all statements in revised version are covered in refs (eg "Smith has stated that his consulting work is consistent with state ethics rules and fully disclosed as required by law")? Tacyarg (talk) 20:58, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi ODMpr! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Greg Smith (Oregon politician) several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Greg Smith (Oregon politician), please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Valfontis (talk) 02:16, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
