Should something like...
[edit]...this be revdel-ed too? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 15:47, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- if the lyrics are still in copyright, then yes (I have done this one). Nthep (talk) 16:01, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- aha, thank you for doing it! Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:08, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Also, don't you think there is a better way of writing a "Personnel" section of an album article (Honkytonk Hollywood) without necessarily getting over 70% copyvio from the source? See report Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:14, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- with no opinion on whether the material is needed or not, you start hitting WP:LIMITED and then it becomes a judgement decision on whether or not the same content can be rewritten without becoming very tortuous and losing brevity or clarity. I'd probably let this one go as being difficult to rewrite. Nthep (talk) 16:32, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Right! Just wanted to be sure someone else will look at it the same way I did. Thanks for your input. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:34, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi Nthep, I forgot your username and had to go through the entire list of admins looking for one that starts with an N, lol. Do you remember revdel-ing articles with direct copies of their plots from an obvious copyrighted website? I mean, per WP:MOSPLOT, they're supposed to be "summaries" but I see articles with direct copies from external websites? Is that normal or I'm just overthinking? There's also MOS:FAIR USE which shed more light, but I do not understand why editors still copy plots from external websites; are they not aware or, again, am I just overthinking? See Blossom (Chinese TV series) and Dhai Aakhar for example. I'm aware that sometimes it's the external websites that copy from Wikipedia though, and I can spot those. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 23:57, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have no qualms about deleting plots that are straightforward copyvios. There's a requirement to but some effort into using OWNWORDS. Nthep (talk) 18:06, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – May 2025
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2025).

Rusalkii
NaomiAmethyst (overlooked last month)
Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
