[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or website, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 04:41, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page, User:Helmsman Group, has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be advertising which only promoted or publicized someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 04:42, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My Reasoning is that I was truly unaware of the guidelines of Wikipedia, I was under the impression that i was creating an informational page. I meant no harm to wikipedia or the integrity of the site. If unblocked i would not place any promotional language on any page or attempt of editing. I now understand what is allowed and how to go about the process of contributing information.

Decline reason:

I am not convinced that you have a sufficient understanding of Wikipedia's advertisements policy, and you also appear to have failed to make a paid-contribution disclosure. Arcticocean ■ 07:34, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wikipedia does not have mere "information pages". Wikipedia is not a place for companies to tell about themselves, their offerings, and what they do. A Wikipedia article about a company should summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. This is usually very difficult for a company representative(as I assume you are) to do. Please see the paid editing policy- which includes employement- as well as conflict of interest. What edits do you want to make instead of your prior ones? 331dot (talk) 19:36, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 331dot,
Although you say there are no "information pages", I would beg to differ as there are many resources on Wiki that show the history of a company, how they were founded, and what they have done in the span of their time in business. I am not looking to promote the company I am with, just expand the knowledge around CPG development and what it means to get a brand/product on shelves. As I have gone through Wikipedia i have seen there there are no real resources or information surrounding Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG). As for the Helmsman Group specifically there are multiple independent outlets that have spoken on what the company has accomplished and its major influence within the retail grocery space. I can understand how it is a conflict of interest on my behalf, but would appreciate the opportunity to expand the knowledge on this topic that many have spent their lives researching. Helmsman Group (talk) 18:34, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but what you wrote up was far from neutral. The very history, those three sentences, were promotional, and all the links (accept one, to Medium, which is not a reliable secondary source) were to the company. Drmies (talk) 18:37, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please see other stuff exists. There are almost certainly many inappropriate articles on Wikipedia that have just not yet been addressed by volunteers, this cannot justify adding more inappropriate content. Once unblocked, you are welcome to identify other inappropriate articles you have seen so action can be taken and others don't do what you did and base new articles on inappropriate ones. If you want to use other articles as a model, use those that are classified as good articles.
As I said, Wikipedia is not a place for companies to tell about themselves, their offerings, and what they do. It's usually very, very difficult for a company representative to write as Wikipedia asks, as you must set aside what you know about your company, all materials it puts out, and all reporting of its routine activities, only summarizing the content of independent sources. 331dot (talk) 19:04, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I will do my best and refrain from discussing what my company does. Only siting content of independent sources. thank you for the advice and unblocking of my account Helmsman Group (talk) 19:15, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I can't do that--I don't know how to rename an account. Someone will come along. Drmies (talk) 20:00, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Renamed. 331dot (talk) 20:07, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
From what I understood above, my account was going to be unblocked. Is that still true? NicZumbo (talk) 16:56, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your request is only one of many others in the queue of unblock requests. Administrators, like all other Wikipedia users, are volunteers; no service level agreement exists here. Therefore it make take several days or even weeks for your request to be evaluated. At this point there is nothing for you to do except to patiently wait your turn. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 17:54, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Written on your page yet do not assume i was unaware of the policy and was trying to figure it out. - swiftly blocking my account and telling me it was because i did not donate. Funny. - "Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers means "Treat newcomers with kindness and patience". Many experienced editors use patience but omit the kindness. Wikipedia is a complex website with a steep learning curve. Someone vandalising or writing draft articles about their business is a potentially new editor entitled to the anti-biting policy's benefit. Kindness could require assuming that apparently disruptive edits are an effort to "see how this works". Even if the aggregate effect of this policy is the less efficient disposal of disruptive users, we pay this price for treating newcomers with kindness." NicZumbo (talk) 17:59, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
