I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 04:30, 14 November 2024 (UTC)please do better when you create citations
[edit]Today I have had to fix citation templates at Adenomeris (diff) and Glomerellina (diff). Please don't leave a mess for others to clean up. Please do not trust machine-created citation templates from Biodiversity Heritage Library; they are too often malformed or just plain wrong. Error messages produced by the templates are a good indication that you should closely examine and properly correct the citations for the sources you are citing.

- Sorry. To be honest, I have tried to fix the citations that have error messages; the one that pops up most often is the one that says there is inappropriate punctuation in one of the names. I have tried removing the punctuation, using a full name instead of initials, etc, but even when there is no longer punctuation in any of the names I can detect, it still gives me that error, so I often feel like I have no choice but to leave the error because nothing I do seems to make it go away.
- I can try to manually enter the information into the Wiki citation template rather than using the template from BHL. Just a heads up, though, if that error pops up regardless, I don't know how to fix it on my own. Nephila121 (talk) 23:53, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Show me a real-life example of the problem you see and perhaps I can help.

- Sounds good. If it happens again, I'll let you know. Thanks. Nephila121 (talk) 08:56, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
