Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created David J. Marchi, and I noticed that your username, "Marchiart", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Marchiart, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was David J. Marchi, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at David J. Marchi. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. “Disclosure: I paid by Greghenderson2006 to create this article. I am disclosing this now in accordance with Wikipedia’s Terms of Use.”
I hired and paid Greghenderson2006 to create the wiki page back in July 2023, and decided to move the page live in November 2024.
Now I understand that I needed to disclose my association. Marchiart (talk) 16:38, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Marchiart, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as Greghenderson2006 (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. It seems that this may be either sock puppetry or undisclosed paid editing by a now blocked user Greghenderson2006. The draft was copied from the blocked editor's user space, and moved into article space by this "new" account (which obviously is not new). [1] There is other evidence as well which I will not go into here. Pinging @ @Graywalls:, @Star Mississippi:, @Beeblebrox:. Netherzone (talk) 18:00, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchiart, thank you for your response above. Greghenderson2006 never disclosed that he was doing this work for hire, paid editors are required to do so. Did he also assist you with the move last November? Netherzone (talk) 19:31, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Marchiart, I've discussion is continuing on the WP:UPE (undisclosed paid editing) editor's talk page, but in the meantime, it's important for you to be aware of our guidelines for Conflict of interest editors (because the article is about you, you have a conflict of interest.) Please read the guidelines here: WP:COI. You will need to stop editing the article directly, and edit requests must be made on the article talk page, where a neutral, unconnected editor can evaluate the request and decide to either make the edit or not. Thank you again for responding here and on the other editors talk. One last question, did Mr. Henderson help you to make the edits you made and move it to article space? Netherzone (talk) 01:36, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
thanks again for your direction. I have a much more clearer understanding of Wikipedia now. Greg did everything for me as far as my page is concerned, including making it live as he referred it. I certainly don't want to get anyone in trouble here however, if there's something that he did which is against your policy, I understand that it could be implications for him.
Marchiart (talk) 11:05, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Marchiart:, you mean that Greg interacted with Wikipedia after August 2024? Did you allow him to login to your account and do it? Graywalls (talk) 21:29, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi I sincerely don't mind cooperating with you. I am getting bombarded by emails from Greg.
Honestly, I'm an artist with disabilities and all I want to do is paint so this is very stressful for me but once again I believe in doing the right thing that's why I am helping you and that's why I also donate to Wikipedia.
Greg was involved with my page after the date you specify.
I'm also trying to change my password as I believe Greg has that because he emailed me about my comments on my talk page with you all.
I tried to change it, but for some reason after doing the captcha , it does not allow me to.
I would also like to let Greg know that I do not want to be in the middle of his issues with Wikipedia and there's no reason for him to contact me.
I welcome your advice. Marchiart (talk) 10:05, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Marchiart, everything on Wikipedia is public, including this talk page, so he or anyone else can see this discussion. Of course someone would have to know to look which Greg does but not the general public and User pages are not indexed on search engines. Is he emailing you via Wikipedia or did he have your email address? S0091 (talk) 14:37, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Why would he not have Greg's contact info? If you read this topic, you'll see that he paid Greg to install the page on Wikipedia. So, I assume that as a client, they have eachother's info. @Marchiart, how did you get acquainted with Greg and his Wikipedia service? I'm just curious. You're not obligated to answer it, but I'm just curious if you approached him, or he approached you. Graywalls (talk) 15:58, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am trying not to assume anything though I agree it makes sense they have each other's contact info but if Greg is contacting Marchiart via Wikipedia/Wikimedia that is a different ballgame.
Apologies Marchiart for also bombarding your talk page but I do have another question. Did Greg ever have access to this account? If so, it can be blocked and possibly locked as WP:COMPROMISED so no one can log into it. I think you can then set up a new account if you wish. S0091 (talk) 16:40, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.
If I do this, will I loose wiki page too? Marchiart (talk) 17:34, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, your account is separate from the article so blocking this account will not impact the article. So did he have access to your account? And also are the recent emails from him via Wikipedia/Wikimedia? S0091 (talk) 17:45, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
He had access and all the communication as far as I could see came through his Gmail account Marchiart (talk) 19:46, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Marchiart, I am pinging @ToBeFree who is a member of the Arbitration Committee. TBF, to give you a brief summary Marchiart paid Greghenderson2006 for an article about him back in 2023. Greg was WP:community baned in February 2024 (later tp, email, etc. disabled because of misuse) but Greg had the article in one of his sandboxes. In November 2024 David J. Marchi was moved to mainspace by this account. Based on Marchiart's responses here, it appears Greg had control of this account. Marchiart has been extremely honest and helpful and above says he has been received emails from Greg because of the discussions here and likely Greg's talk page. All of this has understandably caused Marchiart stress and I don't want to extend that stress by asking any additional questions, especially here as it is clear Greg is reading all this, so seeking guidance on behalf of Marchiart as what should happen with this account and what he should do if he continues to receive emails from Greg. S0091 (talk) 20:23, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping! I'm blinking and wondering what I walked into and will reply soon. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:28, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Marchiart,
  • Please ensure noone else than you has access to the email account you have set in your Wikipedia preferences.
  • Please change your password now, even if you did so before, and not in a way that allows someone knowing any previous password to extrapolate your new password.
  • Please log out (this terminates all remaining sessions) and log in again.
Please let me know here when you're done. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:25, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you prefer not to answer these questions here, let me know and I will loop in a member of the Arbitration Committee who are some the most trusted editors on the English Wikipedia, can handle private information and provide you some additional guidance about both what to do with this account and the emails you have received from Greg. LinkedIn back in June 2023 Marchiart (talk) 17:30, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mind revealing who approached who first? Graywalls (talk) 18:06, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Star Mississippi and Beeblebrox:, with that being said, I think Greg's earliest appeal eligibility date should be extended an entire year, or more. I understand it's just a statement from one user, but I think it warrants a SPI Check User check against Greghenderson2006 accounts and the IPs/ranges he used for WP:LOUTSOCKing Graywalls (talk) 15:54, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The editor whom you paid will no longer be able to assist you

[edit]

Their accounts, plural, have been locked on all Wikimedia Foundation projects. I want make sure you know that you have done nothing wrong in seeking their assistance, nor in paying them for it. Unfortunately their reputation here has caused this bombardment of your talk page with difficult questions.

You are welcome to approach anyone who has left you messages here and/or WP:TEAHOUSE for any advice you need. 🇵🇸‍🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦‍🇵🇸 07:23, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
