Please Improve Your Contribution - include citations

[edit]

Liked56d. Dear friend, please insert the links of references with the speakers information you've given (280 million speakers) or other users who update this page frequently (like Cookie Monster) will eventually revert the page to old settings. I'll give you some time or otherwise I'll have to revert it myself. Please make sure the data you are providing is the most up to date. Make sure to also update the number of speakers in the rest of the text (main body of the text). Good Luck! Filipe Fortes de Oliveira Portela 16 (talk) 17:04, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Like56d, Filipe was generous to offer you more time to include citations for the population figures you changed at Portuguese language. However, given that WP:Verifiability is policy, and that you went ahead and changed the figures anyway after my post at the Talk page reminding you to be sure to include citations for any figures you planned to change, I have reverted your edits at the article. Do not change these figures again without including a citation to a reliable source that you have personally read yourself and verified that the figures or other content you are posting in the article are directly supported by the source. Verifiability policy applies to this article, and every article at Wikipedia. Please see WP:Referencing for beginners. If you have a question about referencing, or any other question about editing Wikiipedia, you can ask at the Wikipedia:Teahouse. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 18:33, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Brazilian Portuguese

[edit]

Hello. I wanted to let you know that your recent edit(s) to Brazilian Portuguese have been removed because the citation you added was to another Wikipedia article or an external wiki. As discussed at our policies on circular sourcing and self-published sources, Wikipedia and other wikis should not be used in citations because they are not considered reliable sources. You are welcome to re-add the information using a better reference, perhaps from the article you originally cited. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jay8g [VTE] 19:42, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
