Filipino Sailors

[edit]

Hi! saw you reverted the edits I made on the articles of Jesus Villareal and Cherrie Pinpin. I included them in the Category: Filipino Sailors. I would like to know the reason for the reversion? As far as my personal knowledge, and my personal relationship with the two, they would consider themselves as sailors. Bootkinero (talk) 01:36, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As the article Jesus Villareal is in Category:Filipino male sailors (sport), it is not needed to put the article in the category grandparent Category:Filipino sailors. Furthermore, categorisation shall be made on article info and not personal knowledge. Kaffet i halsen (talk) 09:25, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

One article Ambassador categories

[edit]

While there are a huge number of one article ambassador categories, every time thry get nominated for upmerge it gets supported and done. I have been trying as I come across ambassadors who are not yet in 1 article categories to place them in broader categories. There is still much work to do in this regard. So for example I placs someone in ambassadors of France, instead of Ambassadors of France to x if there are no other auch ambassadors who have article. We used to have a rule that allowed for small categories if they were part of a large scheme. It was scapprled because many large schemes were in the main very small categories. The effort to create a category is much higher than to remove it, but equally difficult it takes some effort to find more articles that fir in a category. The potential number of subcats for any one ambassadors of category is mindblowong. It is not just all existing countries, but in msny cases several countries no longer extant and there are also ambassadors to various international bodies and people who are general ambassadors for a specific issue or concern. I have seen at least one article that is literally in 10 different ambassador categories where the article is the only one in each category. That was under ambassadors of Mali, but it is quite oossibly not the only offender and may not hold yhe recird.John Pack Lambert (talk) 00:49, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is not how we do things on English Wikipedia. We use an article's talk page to achieve consensus. I now welcome you to comment there. Consensus is not reached through headstrong reverts and edit summaries, and I ask you not to do that again. SergeWoodzing (talk) 20:55, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
