Subject: Jagran Josh Inconsistency & Repeated Disruption by Gogo Pasha
[edit]Hello,
I’d like to highlight two major issues on the Good Bad Ugly page:
---
1. Jagran Josh as a Source
It's not about WP:ICTFSOURCES. Jagran Josh has published multiple contradictory box office figures for the same film Good Bad Ugly:- • ₹245 cr – https://www.jagran.com/entertainment/web-series-review-good-bad-ugly-ott-release-when-and-where-to-watch-ajith-kumar-highest-grossing-movie-23930107.html • Other reports: ₹246 cr, ₹300 cr
These inconsistencies make Jagran Josh unreliable for box office claims. Similar issue occurred with India Today on Retro box office, where it was removed for contradictory figures
2. User Disruption: Gogo Pasha
The user Gogo has history of repeatedly removing ICTF source like Dina Thanthi specifically only for Good Bad Ugly.
The user has deleted multiple prior warnings for vandalism on their talk page history and continues involving in unconstructive edits
This appears agenda-driven, aiming to force a figure. Hatimm Tai (talk) 11:04, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Hatimm Tai, regardless you should discuss it on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force first, before removing it. Vestrian24Bio 13:23, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- "Hi @Vestrian24Bio, the issue is that user Gogo Pasha added this content only yesterday without any prior discussion on the talk page, seemingly to promote a specific agenda. You can verify this by checking their recent edit history, which reflects a deliberate, non-consensual addition. My edit was simply a reversion of that unconstructive change to maintain accuracy and consistency." Hatimm Tai (talk) 15:15, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

- @Hatimm Tai Jagaran Josh is an accepted reliable source and so is Hindustan Times. There's no need for consensus or discussion to add them. You're the one seem to be editing with a single-purpose account to "promote a specific agenda" here. Vestrian24Bio 16:24, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- Absolutely not. The only reason Jagran Josh was removed is due to multiple contradictory reports (₹179 cr, ₹245 cr, ₹246 cr, ₹300 cr), which reduces reliability for this claim per WP:RS and WP:DUE. Additionally, the currently cited Jagran Josh article merely reflects an old Wikipedia range rather than independent reporting. Including such a source would mislead readers and violate neutrality.
- Hindustan Times also published an article stating Good Bad Ugly crossed ₹200 cr worldwide within two weeks, along with several other contradictory reports.Absolutely not bro . The only reason Jagran Josh was removed is due to multiple contradictory reports (₹179 cr, ₹245 cr, ₹246 cr, ₹300 cr), which reduces reliability for this claim per WP:RS and WP:DUE. Hatimm Tai (talk) 16:37, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- @User:Vestrian24Bio – The removal of Jagran Josh is not arbitrary. The issue is contradictory reporting: Jagran Josh has published multiple inconsistent figures for Good Bad Ugly (₹179 cr, ₹245 cr, ₹246 cr, ₹300 cr), which undermines reliability for this claim per WP:RS and WP:DUE.
- Moreover, the article being used simply mirrors an old Wikipedia range, not independent reporting. Please validate that article , it's very clear . Hatimm Tai (talk) 16:39, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit] You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Good Bad Ugly. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. You restored this content after I already blocked three other accounts for edit warring over it, based on a report at WP:AN. Be better than this. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:33, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
Tech News: 2025-30
[edit]Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Updates for editors
- The Translation Suggestions feature in the Content Translation tool now has another level of article filters added to the "... More" category. Translators who use the Suggestions feature can now select and receive article suggestions that are customized to geographical locations of their interest using the new "Regions" filter. [1]
- Administrators can now limit "Add a Link" to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders start editing, but some communities have requested the ability to restrict it to its intended audience: newcomers. Administrators can configure this setting within the Community Configuration feature.
View all 29 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week.
Updates for technical contributors
- For AbuseFilter editors on some wikis, it is now possible to filter edits based on the RevertRisk score of the edit being attempted. It is only populated if the action being evaluated is an edit. For more information, please see the ORES/AbuseFilter variables documentation.
- The Beta Cluster wikis have been moved from
beta.wmflabs.org
tobeta.wmcloud.org
. Users may need to update URLs in any tools, or in their password managers. Any related issues can be reported in the task. Detailed code updates later this week: MediaWiki
Meetings and events
- WikiCite 2025 will take place from 29–31 August, both online and in-person in Bern, Switzerland. The event's goals are to reconnect communities, institutions, and individuals working with open citations, bibliographic data, and the Wikidata/Wikibase ecosystem. Registration is open and the call for proposals will be announced soon. [2]

Thanks for your efforts in the question & discussion phase of AELECT2025
[edit]I'm certain many others feel the same way. I appreciate your putting yourself forward, answering questions (including mine) with candor, and demonstrating BOLD while still maintaining AGF. Thank you, and good luck to you in the next phase. We've certainly learned more about all the candidates during the last few days. BusterD (talk) 22:54, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Administrator Elections | Voting phase
[edit]The voting phase of the July 2025 administrator elections has started and continues until July 29 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Voting phase.
As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
- July 23–29 – Voting phase
- July 30–c. Aug 3 – Scrutineering phase
In the voting phase, the candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for approximately four days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Detection of automated edit summaries
[edit]Hi! Coming from the perspective of an XTools dev, from your comment in one of your AELECT questions on summaries. First, the internal format for storing automated summaries (such as from the new editor link-adding feature) looks like /* blabla|1|2 */
, so distinguishing section names from fully automatic stuff would be harder. Second, this tool aims primarily to find manual summaries; that is, edits where the user took time to sit down and type a message; whereas section names are added automatically. Hope this answers your questions. (All of this is of course assuming that you were talking about XTools or another tool which takes its data from XTools; if not, then it's my bad.) — Alien 3
3 3 11:21, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Alien333, well section names aren't always added automatically, they can be added and changed manually as well (only in the web editor though). Vestrian24Bio 15:11, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Well, we have no way to figure out whether an editor put it themselves or it's automatic. — Alien 3
3 3 15:13, 23 July 2025 (UTC)- That's fine. Vestrian24Bio 15:20, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Good Bad Ugly
[edit]Hi @Vestrian24Bio, I see you have reverted my edits in Good Bad Ugly. I made the edit changes based on reliable sources in WP:ICTFSOURCES. According to this list, Jagran Josh is not a part of the reliable sources list, thats why I removed it. What are your thoughts on this? Tonyy Starkk (talk) 05:08, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Tonyy Starkk: ICTFSOURCES is especially for which sources to be not used. Sources can't be removed just because it's not listed there. To be removed or considered unreliable it should be discussed at WP:RSN first. Vestrian24Bio 09:52, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ohh okay, but in the guidelines its mentioned "Worldwide gross box office collection reported by Bollywood Hungama and Box Office India should be used in infoboxes and list type articles. If unavailable, any of the other generally reliable sources listed below can be used." Thats why I removed Jagran Josh which was not in the list. Tonyy Starkk (talk) 10:05, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- It works for Northern side films, but not so for southern side as Bollywood Hungama or BOI doesn't report for most kollywood films. Vestrian24Bio 16:27, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, but the second part of the sentence states "If unavailable, any of the other generally reliable sources listed below can be used." Meaning any reliable source from the table in WP:ICTFSOURCES needs to be used right. And in the list there was no Jagran Josh, meaning this should not be used for box office reporting right? Weekly highlight
- The Community Tech team will be focusing on wishes related to Watchlists and Recent Changes pages, over the next few months. They are looking for feedback. Please read the latest update, and if you have ideas, please submit a wish on the topic.
Updates for editors
- The Wikimedia Commons community has decided to block cross-wiki uploads to Wikimedia Commons, for all users without autoconfirmed rights on that wiki, starting on August 16. This is because of widespread problems related to files that are uploaded by newcomers. Users who are affected by this will get an error message with a link to the less restrictive UploadWizard on Commons. Please help translating the message or give feedback on the message text. Please also update your local help pages to explain this restriction. [3]
- On wikis with temporary accounts enabled and Meta-Wiki, administrators may now set up a footer for the Special:Contributions pages of temporary accounts, similar to those which can be shown on IP and user-account pages. They may do it by creating the page named
MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer-temp

About your DCWC submission
[edit]Hey Vestrian24Bio, thanks for participating in the Developing Countries WikiContest! I've had to decline your submission of 2025 Chennai Super Kings season as, according to the scoring rules, DYK submissions are only eligible if they were nominated after article creation or 5× expansion. Please let me or one of the other coordinators know if you have any questions. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 16:32, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
Your WikiCup submission: Template:Did you know nominations/2025 Chennai Super Kings season
[edit]Hi Vestrian24Bio, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Template:Did you know nominations/2025 Chennai Super Kings season for DYK points, but unfortunately it is not eligible for DYK points because it was nominated to DYK as a newly promoted GA. I know this can be disappointing, but Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring#Did you know? states that only newly created or expanded DYKs are eligible for DYK points. The rules specifically exclude DYK submissions from receiving points if their appearance on DYK is solely because the article was a newly promoted GA. Epicgenius (talk) 23:24, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
