- While I understand the cursory look, the book is thoroughly researched. I speak as the Director of the Louisiana State University Military Museum and a Ph.D. in History. The book is filled with well-researched primary sources all of which are now in the archives of LSU, donated by Walt Larimore. The publisher should not be the disqualifier for the source. What needs to be done to show this? JJOKLA (talk) 19:25, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- Read reliable source. The publisher and the credentials of the author is certainly a consideration in determining if a source is reliable. But also note a source needs to meet all four criteria, which includes independence and multiple are needed to meet notability. I have to ask, is Walt related to Philip? - He is his son. Which, I understand can be an issue but that is precisely why he did not write the Wiki draft. However, given that Larimore's life connects with multiple historical figures and he is the second most decorated American soldier of WWII, the youngest officer in the US Army (confirmed by the Army two months ago), and the youngest Captain in WWII, I believe the source is worth being used to share his story. If it still will not meet the criteria, I could cite directly the primary sources, but I know that is not our goal for a wikipedia article. JJOKLA (talk) 12:30, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
