Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, InspiredByGeorgetownPJI. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ―Howard • 🌽33 13:00, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Doug Gilding moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Doug Gilding. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because you may have a possible Conflict of Interest and overuse of primary sources on an article about a living person. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ―Howard • 🌽33 13:06, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your insights and for taking the time to review the page. This is the first article I've created, and I'm still learning the ropes. I’ve reviewed the resources you provided and can now better recognize some of the mistakes I made, particularly regarding the use of primary sources and maintaining a neutral point of view. I’m going to work on improving the draft by removing autobiographical material and aiming for a more balanced, encyclopedic tone. I appreciate your guidance and the opportunity to continue refining the article. Thanks again for your time and helpful suggestions! InspiredByGeorgetownPJI (talk) 02:13, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
