- I paraphrased it though and tried to be far away as possible though, and one of the first things I read on the policy you linked was "Facts cannot be copyrighted". I think this might be a misunderstanding. Henihhi28 (talk) 15:39, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- And if you look at the Harvard and Egypt, they are clearly paraphrased if that might also be a problem. Henihhi28 (talk) 15:42, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- It was paraphrased a bit but not enough to have avoided being a violation of our copyright policy. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:54, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- Would doing it in a more scrambled up order make the cut? And I will obviously rephrase it a lot more if I do re-add it, I'm questioning adding it back and then editing it again because I don't wanna lose my editing privileges if it gets attention by another admin. Especially another one who is ranked in the top 500 number of edits, it's gonna be hard to appeal a block by an admin rather than someone who has a problematic wiki history. I will try to do research on wiki's policies more. Henihhi28 (talk) 00:23, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- I might also semi-retire editing because this is my final warning, if I do any more problematic edits, even with good faith, it's over. Henihhi28 (talk) 00:25, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- I removed content that was a match from two different sources. Don't try to paraphrase or rephrase or scramble material from your sources. Everything you add needs to be written in your own words. Here is some general advice: One thing I find that works for me is to read over the source material and then pretend I am verbally describing the topic to a friend. Stuff should also be presented in a different order where possible. Summarize rather than paraphrase, and don't try to include every single detail. This will typically result in your version being much shorter than the source documents. It also helps to have more than one source to draw from. There's some reading material on this topic at Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing and/or have a look at the material at Paraphrase: Write It in Your Own Words. Check out the links in the menu on the left for some exercises to try. Or study this module aimed at WikiEd students. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 11:54, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

- I just made another draft: Draft:Shelby (dog), any thoughts on it? I discussed this on the Teahouse but I kinda want more clarification (I don't know a better way to describe it). Henihhi28 (talk) 05:22, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello! You got some useful feedback at the Teahouse – I'll see if I can expand on those comments.
- Regarding Draft:A Dog's Courage, it's barely a stub and doesn't cite any Independent sources (the author's and publisher's websites are not independent). Look at the article for the first book, A Dog's Way Home (novel) – it's still a stub, but it cites a few reviews of the book.
- Regarding Draft:Shelby (dog), browse through List of individual dogs to see examples of articles for notable individual dogs. Not every article on that list would necessarily be accepted by today's standards, but if you look at a wide selection of them you will hopefully get some ideas for improving and expanding your draft.
- I also agree with the others who have advised you not to comment on other people's drafts until you have some experience submitting successful drafts yourself. There is no need to rush the process – take as long as you need to write a really good draft before submitting it for review. ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 04:11, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, I do have a more decent understanding of editing though (still not great) so maybe i shouldn't Henihhi28 (talk) 04:43, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Also, there is a good chance I'm abandoning A Dog's Courage because of the very reason you said. Henihhi28 (talk) 04:44, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- I might still comment if the information is useful, I'm familiar with the subject, and/or common knowledge. For example, on one draft I commented on, I highlighted the red links and something unsourced, which is common knowledge because almost everyone knows that's a no-go for Wikipedia, although obviously not as severe as some other things, it kinda worsens the article/draft. Henihhi28 (talk) 04:51, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- You were incorrect about red links, red links are useful for expanding Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 07:09, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, red links should not be removed unless there is no possibility that there will ever be an article by that name; see WP:REDLINK. It's natural that a new user such as yourself will not yet understand all our policies. Everyone requires time to get acquainted with the numerous policies and guidelines. It's even understandable that you may think something is "common knowledge" even though it is contrary to policy, like the red link issue. But you should not be giving (possibly erroneous) advice to other new users while you are still learning. This just confuses and/or misleads them and makes it harder for them to learn how to edit productively. Some of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines are counterintuitive, such as the red link policy, the preference for secondary sources over primary sources, the restrictions on editing with a conflict of interest, etc. Do not assume that something is policy just because it seems natural to you, unless you have read a specific policy page that states it. Welcome!
Hello, Henihhi28, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.
Did you know that ...
- ...Wikipedia has a very stringent image use policy?
- ...most images from Flickr, online news websites, and other web sources are copyrighted?
- ...Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously?
- ...freely-licensed images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a central location for images where they can be used on all Wikipedia projects?
- ...we recommend that new users use our "files for upload" process – at least until you get the hang of things?
