A barnstar for you!

The Master Detective Barnstar | |
I dub thee the "master detective" with The Master Detective Barnstar. Through your deep persistence, expert puzzle-solving and clue-finding, and a disregard for what Wikipedia is about, you have discovered all five guestbooks. Panini! • 🥪 16:54, 12 May 2025 (UTC) |
- Thanks! Was a lot of fun. GeogSage (⚔Chat?⚔) 17:16, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Can you review
[edit]Wikipedia_talk:Vital_articles/Level/4#c-GeogSage-20250517033200-Remove_subtypes_of_flute. Note that all oppose votes were very specific. Nobody opposed the removal of pan flute, for exmaple. One person opposed all but that one, two opposed recorded, one opposed Western. So at least it was 3:0 for pan flute... Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:56, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- The support wasn't explicit in the support section, which makes me think they were neutral on those. I changed close to "No consensus" based on "after 30 days it may be closed as NO CONSENSUS if the proposal hasn't received any !votes for +30 days, regardless of tally." I gave a suggestion to specifically break down the flute types and repropose them in a bit (I'd wait a few weeks at least but others might suggest longer). GeogSage (⚔Chat?⚔) 06:12, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
Inappropriate accusations
[edit]Hello,
Please do not make unfounded sockpuppet investigations pbp 19:44, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- I don't believe it was unfounded, an IP editor suddenly reverted a bunch of edits, using an IP from San Diego. You edited 9 minutes after the IP, which made me suspect it was you but I wasn't going to say anything. Today, once one of the IPs was blocked, you reverted my edits using your main following the same pattern as the IP. That is my evidence, you are free to deny that if you'd like. GeogSage (⚔Chat?⚔) 19:58, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm calling your bluff. If you REALLY believe this, file an SPI. If you don't, retract it all. pbp 20:14, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have thanked you for clearing that up on the main discussion, I don't feel the need to run to SPI or ANI for this or most things. You have to admit, it is pretty suspicious to have an IP editor jump in to vital articles 9 minutes before you, and then later you follow the same revert pattern as the IP. If not, that's fine, even if it was/is you, I don't feel the need to do anything about it. GeogSage (⚔Chat?⚔) 20:31, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Heads-up
[edit]This edit could torpedo your DYK nomination if it isn't addressed. I asked the user to think about not doing this in the future, but it's up to you what to do next. Personally, I think MOS and the Help pages allow for galleries in the way you are using them, but I also acknowledge that I tend overall to take positions that often come into conflict with other members of the community. This is not due to my nature as a contrarian (which I am certainly not), but rather, IMO, due to the particular subculture of Wikipedia that attracts a certain type of person who is uncomfortable with uncertainty and tends to enforce open ended essays, guidelines, and help pages as if they were the Code of Hammurabi. I am not that kind of person, hence the conflict. With that said, you will need to decide whether to revert and take the discussion to the talk page or to rewrite the sections, or to delete them. If you do nothing and leave the tags there, the nom will not be approved or will end up withdrawn in the end due to WP:DYKTAG. I leave this in your hands. Viriditas (talk) 09:30, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up, I'm trying to think of how to respond to that. Essentially, the galleries I am using were based on the ones from the main Geography page, but those have recently been criticized as well despite being on that page since like 2006.
- I'm considering removing the tags, moving it to the talk page, and just converting it to prose when I have some time to do so. Technical geography has had a peer review and TWO separate GA reviews, and those galleries were there for all of them.
- I'm trying to think of a good response on the DYK, the issue is trying to make it interesting and easily verifiable within the sources. I tried to include based on what you suggested, but it is true the sources are a stretch that suggestion. GeogSage (⚔Chat?⚔) 16:56, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
