Chŏng Hyŏllyong article - direct links to Korean Wikipedia

[edit]

I am a coordinator for the military history project. Among other tasks, coordinators review bot-assessed B class asessments. I am aware that you are an experienced editor and have added many useful articles to Wikipedia. In your recent article on Chŏng Hyŏllyong, you have added links to the Korean Wikipedia. I have seen a few of your other articles that do not contain such links. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Korea-related articles#No direct links to the Korean Wikipedia. Unless I have missed something in that manual of style, this article also should not have such links. The link to the manual of style guideline that I just cited includes this text "Do not directly link to the Korean Wikipedia in articles. If the topic doesn't have an article on the English Wikipedia, use [[{{{1}}}]] []s instead (MOS:INTERWIKI)." I will be changing the assessment class for the article to take this into account. Please let me know if I am mistaken in whole or in part about this. Otherwise, please let me know when you have removed the direct links and I will restore the class B assessment. Thanks. @Donner60: Hello Donner60! Thank you for your interest in the article on Chŏng Hyŏllyong. Regarding the point you raised, according to MOS:KO-WIKILINK, it is recommended to use the Template:Interlanguage link instead of the direct linking format like [[:ko:~|~]] when linking to the Korean Wikipedia. In the edit I made, I used the former template, not the direct link. Therefore, I believe the edit does not violate the Manual of Style. Fbgpwns5277 (talk) 06:43, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will restore the assessment. Clearly I misinterpreted the Manual of Style or your use of the template. Thanks for the work you do on these articles which might otherwise go overlooked. Donner60 (talk) 06:48, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I should be the one thanking you for your dedication to improving Wikipedia! Fbgpwns5277 (talk) 06:52, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It started today on Monday June 16 and will run until Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:09, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
