Question from Kohenmccann5 (20:51, 12 May 2025)
[edit]Hello! I was wanting to make a page for somebody I know, he is a young curler from a small town in New Brunswick Canada and I’ve often heard him mention how everybody knows his father, but he’s generally unknown despite wanting to get his name out there to grow his amateur (or possibly professional) curling career. I thought it would be a nice idea for me to make a page for him, as it’s strangely enough something he’s wanted for a long time hahaha. I just want to make sure that the page is objective, and valid under wikipedias guidelines. And I was hoping you’d be able to give me a few tips on certain vocabulary to use, or more specifically, which NOT to use. If you could get back to me with some tips, it would be greatly appreciated!! --Kohenmccann5 (talk) 20:51, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Kohenmccann5: Welcome to Wikipedia! As far as your question, the relevant guideline in terms of language to use/avoid so that the article isn't overly promotional would be found here. In addition, I think you ought to read our guideline on the notability of sportspeople, and especially the subsection on curling. If the curler in question doesn't meet that guideline (i.e., hasn't won a national-level curling tournament), it's extremely unlikely that they would be considered notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia article at this point. Of course it may be that later in life they do ultimately qualify by winning one of these tournaments, but until then, Wikipedia's guidelines would consider them not notable enough for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Your generosity is admirable, but at this point it seems unlikely that they're eligible for an article - if you have any further questions about this or about editing Wikipedia in general, please don't hesitate to let me know! - They have won a silver medal at a junior national tournament and has played in 2 briers with his father, do they have to win gold to qualify? Kohenmccann5 (talk) 21:55, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not super well-versed in the intricacies of curling, but from what the guideline says, it looks like taking any medal at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships would be sufficient. If that's the junior national tournament you're referring to, you should be good to go! If that's the case, this page has instructions for creating your first article. It's important to note that you have a conflict of interest with the subject, so it'll be necessary to submit through the Articles for Creation process. AviationFreak💬 22:04, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Wildboyconcepts (22:19, 20 May 2025)
[edit]Hi. How do I get my wiki page out of the sand box? --Wildboyconcepts (talk) 22:19, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Wildboyconcepts: Welcome to Wikipedia - there is a section here on publishing your first article. Note that if you have a conflict of interest with the subject, it is strongly recommended that you submit via Articles for Creation. Looking briefly at your sandbox just for formatting, one thing to check out before publishing might be this page on references - this page (and any others in the "See Also" section you find interesting) will be useful for formatting your sources as proper references. Let me know if you have other questions! AviationFreak💬 02:38, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for getting me started. Wildboyconcepts (talk) 15:35, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello, good to have you. I am facing issues in the WikiProjectMed Translation Dashboard. After choosing my target language and click "Do it", I could not proceed, as it returns to the same page again and again. --Henok135 (talk) 09:12, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Henok135: If you're referring to the project [mdwiki.org here], I can't be of too much assistance - the project isn't hosted on Wikipedia, and even if it were, this sounds like more of a technical issue than anything else. From looking at your talk page, it's possible that Doc James would have some info or know who to point you to? AviationFreak💬 18:17, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Yah was down earlier today try again now and let me know. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:19, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Wildboyconcepts (19:25, 22 May 2025)
[edit]Hey mentor! I hope you are well. I've made a few edits on my articles after reading up on your suggestions. I also edited a live article! and cited it! I was thrilled. Now I wondering when my article will go live. Any idea? --Wildboyconcepts (talk) 19:25, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Wildboyconcepts: In order to actually submit the article for review, you'll need to add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the draft. Then, it'll be placed into the queue for Articles for Creation, which can have a backlog of a couple months at times. In the meantime, I'm glad you're enjoying editing - that's what it's all about! :) AviationFreak💬 23:48, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Is it possible to reverse multiple edits on the same page? The article about the company DIC Entertainment had significant information altered since the 19th of May. --Leuchar55 (talk) 04:04, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Leuchar55: Yes - there are tools available for this. One of these is Twinkle, which is useful for lots of wiki-editing tasks. Installing this should allow you to view the relevant page version and click an option to "restore this version". AviationFreak💬 23:51, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Bappi Kar, my question is there any way to earn from Wiki? --Bappikar0 (talk) 15:52, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Bappikar0: Assuming you mean earn money, this is difficult - essentially the only way to do it would be to have a third party pay you to edit (typically a corporate article), but this has lots of restrictions as it creates a financial conflict of interest. Wikipedia tends to work better when folks edit as volunteers, since this reduces POV-pushing. AviationFreak💬 23:53, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
