I believe that the redirecting article Actinaria should be deleted and that only Actiniaria should be present in WP.

[edit]

Hi, Animalparty:

Some years ago you created the redirecting article Actinaria, ending in "-naria" instead of "-niaria". I believe that it is a typo, given that in WoRMS the name of the order is Actiniara and that "Actinaria" does not even exist as a synonym: https://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=1360 .

If you agree, could you delete Actinaria so that the only redirecting page remains the already present Actiniaria? This is to avoid promoting the use of Actinaria in the future. I have already searched all the uses of Actinaria in WP, and replaced them with Actiniaria, to simplify your work, if you agree to delete it.

Thanks.

@Pmronchi: Yes, it is typo, but it is widespread typo, and so is kept to help readers and web searchers find the intended article. Redirects from widely used typos are typically kept, per WP:RPURPOSE and WP:RFD#KEEP. While "Actiniaria" is the correct spelling, the emendation "Actinaria" occurs widely, including in scientific literature, text books, and other scholarly sources, both historic and modern (e.g. [1][2][3][4][5]). I have added {{R from misspelling}} to Actinaria so that people who click or link to it will know to update the link. Cheers, --Animalparty! (talk) 04:24, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your explanation and the addition of the tag. I learnt useful things.
