The Greatly Improved Editor's Barnstar
I really appreciate your work on Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton this page needed a lot of improvement and you stuck with it. I am very happy to see a new editor with these great contributions. You took my many compents about WP:RS in stride and produced great content. I wanted to tell you about WP:WikiProject Women in Red which you might also be interested in.Czarking0 (talk) 20:12, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I'm glad that you took the time to stick with me in the process of promoting the article, and thanks for the barnstar! Maybe we will cross paths again in the future... also, I'll definitely be checking out Women in Red! Thanks again.

DYK for Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton

[edit]

On 8 February 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton spent the last 50 years of her life preserving Alexander Hamilton's and George Washington's legacies? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

GA mentorship help

[edit]

I would be happy to help you review articles- ppl usually just go straight to WT:GAN, so I think your messages went unnoticed. Any GAN you have in mind at the moment, which you would like to take? DWF91 (talk) 11:06, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, @DoctorWhoFan91! I forgot there was a talk page (somehow), so I just put it in the mentorship section... then it got archived by the bot.
Again, thank you for responding. In my wait, I actually already started reviewing Keyshia Cole, since I wanted to help with the backlog on one of the oldest GAs. You can find the GA review here.
Could you help me figure out the best places to work on first when starting a GA, if there are any? I also may need some more tools, as I only have the one to find authorship & WP:EARWIG, but I assume there's more. I also may need to double check with you on some sources so I can make sure they are or are not reliable. Thanks! (again...) Ali Beary (talk!) 11:47, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that happens, looking for the best avenue can be a mess sometimes lol.
Looking at the review- looks correct for all the stuff you have checked for- two images is good, so you shouldn't hold it against them if more can't be found. You don't need to fail the article in 7 days time- as long as you think it can be improved in a reasonable amount of time(I would say a week or two of no/very low activity), you can keep it open.
There is the external links tool, which is also included with the other two, in the included toolbox. As mentioned in the Wikipedia:Good article nominations/Instructions, the GANReviewTool can help with the technical aspects such as closing the review and all the edits needed while passing/failing/holding. There are also other helpful tools, but I don't use them, so I would have to search before saying which can be used. Many of the sources on Keyshia Cole look fine, but I don't really edit in that topic area, so you would have to ask me based on ones you think are ambiguously reliable- I think you are good enough to know which are reliable and which are not looking at your edits.
No need to thank me thrice, lol. DWF91 (talk) 12:57, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. I just wanted more images, but it's not needed. The reviewer hasn't made any edits in 5 days... how long should I wait until the review is stale (if the reviewer isn't responding or updating the article)?
Thank you, I didn't see that, but very helpful! I don't really edit in the topic area either... I'm more of a history buff than a music nerd (except for musicals), but I'm sure I'll be able to determine using sources I have and prior knowledge.
Sorry, just really thankful for you responding, @DoctorWhoFan91! Ali Beary (talk!) 13:57, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Varies with what you think would be a reasonable time. The usual time spans I have seen are basically pings after some time, and another ping or two after a few days. Might be good go go with a ping after 7 days asking if they are working on it, then 4-5 with a reminder, then another after 2-3 days saying you will fail it in the next day or so. Just throwing out numbers, you should do whatever you think seems reasonable. DWF91 (talk) 15:28, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

John Laurens GA Nomination

[edit]

Hi Ali Beary, thank you for your edits to the John Laurens article. After your improvements and a few I made myself recently, I now believe the article is worthy of another GA review. Should you nominate it again I would be happy to do so. Thanks! Compass128 (talk) 21:05, 11 May 2025 (UTC) 18:41, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

COI Request for Leena Nair

[edit]

Hi there Ali Beary,

A little while ago, you kindly made some improvements to the Leena Nair article. Since then, others have made further edits to help improve its neutrality. However, the neutrality dispute banner is still in place.

As I have a conflict of interest, I’m not able to remove it myself. I’d really appreciate your thoughts on whether you feel it’s now appropriate to take the banner down. I’ve started a post on the Talk page to help build consensus, and it would be great if you’re able to weigh in.

Thanks so much for your time and for all your help with the article. Occasionalpedestrian (talk) 13:55, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
