Youngmin Kim was Professor of English and World literature at Dongguk University (1991-2019) and now Honorary Professor and Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus at the Department of English, Dongguk University, Seoul, Korea (2019-). He was formerly Jack Ma Chair Professor at College of International Studies, Hangzhou Normal University, China (2019-2022), and now Qiantang Scholar and Chair Professor at College of International Education at Hangzhou Normal University (2022-), and Visiting Professor at the Department of Film / Center for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies (IMS), Linnaeus University, Sweden (2023- ). His fields of interest include modern and contemporary Irish, British, Canadian, and American literature, critical theory, Lacanian psychoanalysis, (digital) comparative literature, transmedia and digital culture, world literature, digital humanities, and new techno humanities, and AI avec DH.

He has been teaching poetries in English, critical theory, psychoanalysis, Irish, British and American poetry, transnationalism and cultural translation, comparative and world literature, digital humanities, as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Full Professor during the period of 1991-2019 at Dongguk University, Seoul, Korea. In 2016, he was awarded the title of the Distinguished Research Professor of the Humanities at Dongguk University along with the Lifetime Scholarly Achievement Award. He served as Director of International Relations, Dean of International Education, Dean of the College of the Humanities at Dongguk University, Seoul, Korea. He was Visiting Professor at the Department of Asian Studies, Cornell University (1998-1999) and Faculty Affiliate (2011-2014) at East Asia Center and Visiting Scholar at the Department of English (2007-2008; 2015-2016) at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, USA.

He has served as the Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of English Language and Literature (2013-2021), and The Yeats Journal of Korea (1993-2001), and currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Korea Journal of East West Comparative Literature (2023- ). He had served domestically in Korea as President of of ELLAK (English Language and Literature Association of Korea: 2012-2013), President of Yeats Society of Korea (2001-2002), President of Jacques Lacan & Contemporary Psychoanalysis Society (the predecessor of the current The Korean Society of Contemporary Psychoanalysis) (2008-2010); internationally as Vice President of IASIL(International Association of the Study of Irish Literatures: 2013-2019) and currently Vice-President of IAELC(International Association of Ethical Literary Criticism: 2012- ), currently executive council member of ICLA (International Comparative Literature Association), President of ICLA Translation Studies Committee, Co-Chair of the ICLA Digital Comparative Literature Committee (DCL), EC Member of the IATIS (International Association of Translation and Intercultural Studies), International Yeats Society, and International Pound Society; currently editorial board member of CLCWeb, Foreign Literature Studies, Journal of International Yeats Studies, Journal of New Techno Humanities. He is the Chair-elect of the CCC (Conference Organizing Committee of the ADHO (Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations) from July 2025. He is currently the the Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 2025 ICLA Congress Seoul/KINTEX at Dongguk University & KINTEX. He contributed his articles to Comparative Literature Studies, Neolicon, Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature, Foreign Literature Studies, Journal of English Language and Literature, Forum for World Literature Studies, and other journals.

His publications include modern and contemporary poetry, critical theory, psychoanalysis and literature, comparative literature, transmedia and digital culture, world literature, digital humanities, and new techno humanities. For the past decade, he has been the principal investigator of numerous projects of the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) on transnationalism and cultural translation; aesthetics and ethics of the convergence of world literature, trans media, digital humanities; and humanities in technology, and Artificial Intelligence.
