Welcome. I’m a former Wikipedia donor, supporting the platform for over 16 years. I recently decided to give back by contributing an article — only to be met with dismissiveness, pedantry, and bureaucratic gatekeeping.

What could’ve been an opportunity to encourage a new editor instead became an exercise in frustration. So, like many before me, I’ll walk away discouraged — no longer a donor, no longer a contributor — because of the unnecessary hostility masked as “policy enforcement.”

Hello and welcome to my user page. I'm XSBUCKS, a Canadian Wikipedia contributor working to improve content related to music, Canadian arts, and regional business notability — especially in Alberta.

I'm currently learning how to become a more productive editor. While I’ve made some mistakes along the way, I take feedback seriously and continue to refine my understanding of Wikipedia’s guidelines. I'm here in good faith, committed to growing as an editor and contributing to articles that deserve accurate and well-sourced representation.

Editing Interests

[edit]

• Canadian Country Music & Bands Focused on improving pages for Canadian musicians and bands that meet notability guidelines. My goal is to enhance Wikipedia's coverage of the evolving music scene in Canada.

• Independent & Regional Artists Contributing to underrepresented pages that highlight real cultural impact, such as festival performers, indie releases, and local coverage.

• Local Business & Cultural Events I work on expanding pages for notable Alberta-based companies and events — helping ensure small business contributions to Canadian identity are recognized when backed by reliable sources.

• SEO & Digital Visibility I have a personal interest in online search, metadata, and ensuring that articles align with discoverability best practices while remaining within Wikipedia’s policies.

Current Projects

[edit]
  • Continuing work on Tacoma (band), with improvements to sources and structure
  • Collecting regional media coverage for upcoming Canadian country releases
  • Identifying reliable sources for Canadian music festivals and contributors
  • Drafting clear and neutral business descriptions for companies with press coverage

Learning Goals

[edit]
  • Master Wikipedia’s WP:GNG and WP:MUSICBIO guidelines
  • Develop stronger citation and formatting practices
  • Collaborate respectfully with other editors in deletion discussions
  • Ensure every edit aligns with WP:NPOV and avoids promotional tone
