His works include The Complete Guide to the Bible, Who's Who and Where's Where in the Bible, and the Bible paraphrase project The Casual English Bible. His books are known for their accessible tone,[1][2][3][4] and have been used in churches and Bible study groups.[5] Miller’s books have been published in the United States and the United Kingdom.[6] His work has appeared in major Christian publications including Christian History for Christianity Today Inc.,[7] and has received international recognition.[8]
Career
[edit]Miller has written several dozen Bible-related books, in addition to dozens more he edited or co-authored for the Church of the Nazarene and the 20-book series he helped write for Guideposts titled Ordinary Women of the Bible.[9]
He earned a degree in news journalism from Kent State University and a master's in religious education from Nazarene Theological Seminary. He worked as a book and magazine editor for Christian publications, where he received the Evangelical Press Association's Award of Excellence for editing Illustrated Bible Life magazine in 1993.[10] He became a full-time freelance writer in 1994.
He began his freelance career writing for Reader’s Digest Books, later serving as a freelance associate editor and principal contributing writer for the 1998 book Reader’s Digest Complete Guide to the Bible, and contributing to several other titles published by Reader’s Digest Books.[11]
He was also a contributing editor on the 1994 edition of the Quest Study Bible published by Zondervan.[12]
He also served as a consulting editor for Christian History magazine published by Christianity Today Inc. An article he wrote about the Apostle Paul led to a Religion News Service feature quoting his work, which was syndicated by the Associated Press in 1995.[13]

The project includes over 1,000 original maps, almost all in 3D-style, using elevation data and satellite photography from international space agencies. In a 2016 interview with Bible Gateway, Miller discussed how the paraphrase developed from his personal Bible study habits.[19]

[edit]Miller has participated in scores of radio interviews and syndicated features promoting Christian books. Among them were interviews with AFR American Family Radio, WGTS-FM, WRAF-FM, and WWJC, as well as a 55-minute televised interview on the Miracle Channel program Insight hosted by Paul Arthur (October 22, 2014).[20] In 2021, he appeared in a podcast with Bible influencer Keith Ferrin.[21]
