Hello there!

I enjoy learning, being outside in nature, listening to podcasts (my favorites are Ologies, Radiolab, and Sawbones), reading (and listening) to books and written media of all kinds. As you may have guessed by my user name, I have a particular affinity for high fantasy (and also sci fi) fiction novels. Yes, my username is a reference to Elwing the wife of Eärendil from the The Silmarillion.

I am passionate about the environment and protecting the longevity of our planet and thus I am a bit of a repair nerd. I strongly support the Right to Repair any device you own and the fact that some companies design their gadgets around planned obsolesce really makes me angry. My goal in giving back to Wikipedia for years of free and accessable information is to start slowly helping to improve other pages. I'll be working to improve pages about (tech) devices (such as phones, tablets, computers, etc.) with the Tech Repairability WikiProject Proposal. I intend on citing reparability evaluations from reliable sources so that anyone learning about a device can see the past, present, and future of tech.

In my non-free time, I am an employee of iFixit. While I intend to contribute to Wikipedia in spreading the word of repairability, I will avoid writing about iFixit and instead focus on other sources the world has to support your right to tinker and repair.

Articles for Creation (AFC) process

When you create an article through Wikipedia's Articles for Creation process, it creates a draft in the Drafts area. The purpose of AfC process is to help new editors learn how to write better articles.

If accepted, your draft can be a valuable contribution to the encyclopedia. Wikipedia is over 17 years old and has well over five million articles. The vast majority of those articles never went through AfC which is only a few years old.

AfC works as a peer review process in which registered editors can either help create an article submitted or decline the article because it is unsuitable for Wikipedia. To nominate an existing draft or user sandbox for review at Articles for Creation, add the code {{subst:submit}} to the top of the draft or sandbox page. The AfC process allows others to review the draft when you are ready, and also to create the article for you, if it is suitable.
