A network administrator is responsible for ensuring the network runs efficiently and meets the need of the users. the network manager installs, configures and maintains LANs, WANs, wireless networks, intranets and internet systems. they also identify and resolve connectivity issues. responsibilities include operational, administrative, maintenance and development tasks

  • operational duties focus on making sure that a network is performing efficiently, correcting and problems and errors as they arise. this involves regular monitoring if network speeds and identification of bottlenecks and problems with accessing resources.
  • administrative tasks include keeping track of components and resources on the network and ow they are assigned, as well as the setting up of users' accounts and assigning users the appropriate access rights. other administrative tasks include gereral 'housekeeping' activities, such as data and file backups.
  • maintenance duties relate to any repairs and upgrades that are needed. these include replacing faulty devices, upgrading software, fixing a broken cable or applying a patch to fix a problem with system software.
  • development tasks include configuring the network to preform a new function or adding a new feature to the nerwork this can include activities such as moving a physical server to a virtual server for some tasks.
