He established and now leads the TriTech Institute, a translational research and innovation hub supporting the evaluation, validation, and adoption of emerging health technologies across Wales.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he co-led a research programme that employed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to evaluate and optimise the performance of ultraviolet-C (UVC) air cleaning devices in healthcare settings by modelling factors such as air velocity, particle dispersion, and UVC intensity.[1][2]
He is also Clinical Director at ATiC, where he leads projects on user-centred design and data-enabled care pathways in diagnostics, monitoring, and AI-supported services.
Government and advisory roles
[edit]Hopkins is a member of the UK Government's Interim Devices Working Group, which provides expert policy guidance on medical device regulation and digital health innovation.[3] He is also an advisor to Health Technology Wales and participates in various evidence appraisal panels.
