Oh hello hi hi. I'm Marcelle.
I'm an editor here on Wikipedia but also an editor professionally. That, the latter, I did when I co-founded a zine called BUST, which I also co-published. I suppose being a multi-hyphenate is my middle name (fun fact: I do not have an actual middle name); I do a lot of different things, all of it connected to writing in some way.
I've collaborated on two books, The BUST Guide To The New Girl Order and The Knitchick's Guide to Sweaters. And I've written a YA novel, Getting Over Max Cooper.
I've been quoted in articles!
- Panic in Bedrooms as Magic Wand, Cadillac of Vibrators, Disappears
- With Some Selfies, The Uglier The Better
- The Second Time Around, Marriage With Jewels
I've been interviewed too, in written form and on podcasts!
- Ageist
- Laid Off At 51, She Wrote A Book, Got Her Degree, And Found The Staff Job She Wanted
- By Ruchira Gupta, for her podcast, A Free Voice.
And I've written essays.
- This one went viral!
- I have an enduring love for the band Pavement. l even wrote a Substack for TueNight about it, called My Enduring Love Of Pavement Add to the list: The Wedding Present. Radiohead. I like that one song by Wet Leg. I'm currently working on a mixed tape/playlist of the top ten songs of each era of my life.
- And this one, well, I won't share this one with my mother: Confession: A Man 20 Years Younger Offered Me $300 To Sleep With Him.
I've written one thesis in grad school on the History of Queer Stand-Up Comedy. Now I'm working on a more in-depth book, tracing this history. My favorite comedians are Chris Rock, Naomi Ekperigin, Jay Jurden, Judy Gold, Nick Griffin, Matteo Lane, Sam Jay, Sydnee Washington, Wanda Sykes. I'm always looking for new comics to obsess over.
Other things I like: I am a foodie but I have no culinary skills. I'm trying to hit up all the Vanderpump eateries in LA, have at least one meal. Another goal of mine is to make an exquisite smoothie that is not too watery and not too thick. I am loathe to drive on highways but I'm a great street driver. I'm a dog lover, dog owner, and dog grand-owner (this means my daughter has a puppy so).
And now I'm adding Wikivian to my name. Okay, I just invented that word. It's combination of Wiki and Whovian. Because I do love Doctor Who. But that's for another entry.
