Heather Brazell-Hill holds a Bachelor's Degree[1] in marketing and business from. Ohio University she graduated in 1998.

Heather Hill is also a graduate from the [2] Leadership Institute in Washington DC

Heather holds a certificate of Deaf Studies from Columbus State Community College

Political Offices\Appointments\Achievements

Heather is the first woman of color to be elected in Morgan County, Ohio [3]

Heather served as President of the Morgan Local Board of Education. for 4 years.

She served as the Secretary for the Black Caucus of Ohio School Board Association

In 2023 Governor Mike DeWine appointed Heather, to serve on The Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission

She formed a branch of the Morgan County Martin Luther King Scholarship Foundation. She served as the President for the Morgan County Martin Luther King Scholarship Foundation from 2005 - 2013.

The Frederick Douglass Foundation appointed Mrs. Brazell-Hill to serve as the ambassador for Athens, Morgan, Muskingum, Perry and Washington Counties.

In 2004 she was a founding member of the Morgan County Habitat for Humanity & served on the board from 2004 - 2006.

Personal Life

Heather has been married to Darrin Hill for over 30 years and they have 2 children, Darrias, and Dahlia. Heather and Darrin have opened their home to numerous foster children.

Heather and Darrin lost 2 foster children in separate incidents involving the police.

Heather is a proud Army mom.

Awards

Heather Brazell Hill was nominated for induction into the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame.

She was awarded the Muskingum Co. Martin Luther King Honor Award.

2026 Ohio gubernatorial campaign

Heather Brazell Hill is running for governor of Ohio in the 2026 election, seeking to succeed governor Mike DeWine. [4] [5] [6]
