Hi! I'm Lais. I'm from Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso, but currently living in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. I hold a degree in Tourism and Hospitality, I am CELTA certified, and have completed a translation course with Wendell Guimarães.

I'm an English teacher, a professional translator, and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu athlete (blue belt, four stripes). I love everything related to jiu-jitsu, and that passion extends to my contributions to Wikipedia, where I mostly translate and expand articles about athletes and championships.

So far, I’ve translated over 50 articles related to jiu-jitsu. It's incredibly rewarding to work on entries about people I admire and look up to. I work with the Open Knowledge Association (OKA), is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the coverage of content from non-anglophone countries, which is typically underrepresented on Wikipedia. Translators are free to work on any article they want, without obligations towards OKA. More information about OKA can be found here or on Meta-Wiki

I hope to keep contributing more and more — and one day, I want to write an article about myself too! One of my biggest dreams is to compete in the Asian and World Jiu-Jitsu Championships. Therefore, I try to be as transparent as possible with my work here. Do not hesitate to contact me via my talk page if you have any concerns about it.
