| I am particularly interested in the way that perspectives and narratives don't always permeate across languages. I particularly focus on that permeation or lack there of between English and Arabic. I was inspired to focus on this for my PhD because I studied Arabic in undergrad and during that time lived in Jordan for several months both studying the language as well as peace and conflict within the region. There I encountered many perspectives and information that never made it to me, my family, or the people within my university in America. I've now made it my goal to put these information gaps and narrative discrepancies in front of researchers in the west. I want to do this to aid in not only understanding of different language perspectives but to encourage increased consideration when conducting cross-language research | أنا مهتمة بشكل خاص بكيفية عدم انتقال وجهات النظر والسرديات دائمًا عبر اللغات. أركز تحديدًا على هذا الانتقال أو غيابه بين اللغتين الإنجليزية والعربية. استلهمت هذا الموضوع لرسالة الدكتوراه الخاصة بي لأنني درست اللغة العربية في مرحلة البكالوريوس، وخلال تلك الفترة عشت في الأردن لعدة أشهر لدراسة اللغة وكذلك دراسة قضايا السلام والصراع في المنطقة. هناك، صادفت العديد من وجهات النظر والمعلومات التي لم تصلني من قبل، ولم تصل إلى عائلتي أو زملائي في جامعتي في أمريكا. ومنذ ذلك الحين، أصبح هدفي أن أسلّط الضوء على هذه الفجوات المعلوماتية والتباينات السردية أمام الباحثين في الغرب. أرغب في القيام بذلك ليس فقط من أجل تعزيز الفهم لوجهات النظر المختلفة بين اللغات، بل أيضًا من أجل تشجيع الباحثين على أخذ ذلك بعين الاعتبار عند إجراء أبحاث متعددة اللغات. |
