Tony Del Degan (born January 4, 2003) is a Canadian author and visual artist. He commonly writes in the genres of horror, science fiction, and mystery.[1]
Early life
[edit]Del Degan was born in Calgary, Alberta on January 4, 2003. On his decision to begin writing, he notes: "Ever since I watched Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings, I knew what I wanted to do with my life." When he was in elementary school, he would create books out of folded paper to add to the class library. His teacher picked up on this and made it an assignment for the whole class. During his childhood, he wanted to be a film director, but ultimately changed his mind and settled on pursuing the route of a novelist.[2]
Career
[edit]His debut novel was The Plight of Steel (2019), a high fantasy released when he was sixteen years old.[3] Ceres (2022) was his second published novel, and a departure in genre from his first.[4] He has also written plays, such as The Recognition (2020) which was published in book format.[5] The release of In River Cardinal (2023) was his first foray into horror, which continues as his mainstay genre.[6] Additionally, he has written a number of short stories in varying genres.[7] He was labeled "an author to follow" in Community Now! Magazine.[8]
