Trillium erectum
Trillium erectum, the red trillium, is a species of flowering plant in the family Melanthiaceae. It is a spring ephemeral plant whose life-cycle is synchronized with that of the forests in which it lives. It is native to the eastern United States and eastern Canada from northern Georgia to Quebec and New Brunswick. Like all trilliums, it has a whorl of three bracts (leaves) and a single trimerous flower with three sepals, three petals, two whorls of three stamens each, and three carpels (fused into a single ovary with three stigmas). It is a perennial plant that persists by means of an underground rhizome. Trillium erectum has carrion-scented flowers that produce fetid or putrid odors purported to attract carrion fly and beetle pollinators. This T. erectum flower was photographed in Stephen's Gulch Conservation Area in Ontario, Canada.Photograph credit: The Cosmonaut

Overview

[edit]

Exteray, a Wikipedian, was born in 1990.

Wikimania

[edit]

A currently avid user of Wikipedia, Exteray first saw this amazing project several years ago. He was instantly drawn to it [citation needed].

He spends as much time on Wikipedia now that it has led to parental objection. (His parents are very strict). But in his young mind Wikipedia is his life.

His Userboxes

[edit]

Exteray has an uncanny fascination with userboxes. He allegedly spent the entire night creating semi-random userboxes for himself when he first knew about its existence. To date, there are over 356 of them.[citation needed] Due to this overwhelming number of userboxes, they are displayed on a separate page here.

How to plant a CategoryTree!

The CategoryTree is a MediaWiki extension that provides a dynamic view: you can change how much you see of a category's structure as a tree. You can use it to show a category and its subcategories by putting the category name between category tree tags like this:
<categorytree> Trees in religion </categorytree>

The result is a category tree like the one shown to the right. Click on the triangles to expand and collapse the tree.
