The Witch Mark

Witch Mark is a 2024 American horror short web series written and directed by Zhanerke Koilybayeva. The series was produced by the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles as part of a student project. The pilot episode was released on January 4, 2024, on YouTube.

Plot

A group of four friends — Peter, Giselle, Rick, and Tony — run a YouTube channel dedicated to exploring haunted or abandoned locations. During one of their expeditions, they discover a witch's mark, which becomes supernaturally tattooed onto their forearms. The mark slowly causes them to rot from the inside out, as if being burned alive. As they search for answers in a town that refuses to speak of the past, they uncover dark secrets and the witch's identity.

Production

The series was created and directed by Zhanerke Koilybayeva, a Kazakhstani filmmaker currently based in Los Angeles.^[1] It was produced as part of her work at the New York Film Academy.

The pilot episode of the series premiered on January 4, 2024, and is available for viewing on YouTube.
