United States of America United States Army Staff Sergeant

Cody A. Voye (born March 11, 1992) is a current enlisted soldier in the United States Army. He was sworn in on October 7, 2009. SSG Voye has held a variety of leadership positions throughout including Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and student First Sergeant. He currently serves as the 3rd lowest Non-Commissioned Officer rank of the United States Army.

Early Life

Cody Voye was born on March 11, 1992, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Fred Voye and Jean Bahney. He was born in the Magee Womens' Hospital in downtown Pittsburgh. Growing up as the youngest child, he got picked on by his older brother and sister. The family lived in Coraopolis, PA just down the road from a junk yard.

Voye's ancestry is primarily Polish, German and also some French; Voye's Fred Voye was regarded as the dominant member of the small family by relatives and friends. Fred worked in a warehouse for many years and Jean worked in a Pepsi factory to help keep the family afloat.

In September 1997, Voye entered kindergarten at J.A. Allard Elementary, where teachers regarded him as "above average". He went to an alternative first grade before regular first grade which helped him significantly. He stayed at the school until the end of regular first grade.

After Voye's parents divorced the family then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania without his father. In September 2001, Voye entered a new school, John Morrow, for second grade. Though generally regarded as talkative and a "dork", he began doing very well at his new school. Voye never had behavior problems and never got into any trouble while in school. In June of 2001, Voye's mother married Kenneth L. Miles and this changed her last name to Miles. Though Voye and his siblings kept their birth names. Voye stayed out of trouble though out high school. He went to Perry Traditional Academy High School for his 9th and 10th grade years and then switched to David B. Oliver High School in order to pursue the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Education

SSG Voye graduated David B. Oliver High School on June 11, 2011. He holds an Associate in Science in Criminal Justice and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security and Counterterrorism from Southern New Hampshire University. He is currently pursuing his Juris Masters degree in American Legal Studies at Liberty University.

Military Career

As a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Voye's currently serves as a recruiter in Charlottesville, Virginia. SSG Voye's military education includes Army Recruiter Course, Postal Operations Course, Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, and Basic Leader Course. SSG Voye was deployed to Powidz, Poland for the European Deterrence Initiative in 2020. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze Hourglass and Mobilization Device, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge for Rifle and Pistol, and the Army Basic Recruiter Identification Badge.

Personal Life

Cody has been married to his wife Abigail for 8 years, and they have a 2-year-old daughter named Aurora. Cody practices Norse Paganism.
